As far as I know my iris is really 'Mulberry Rose'. If you visit the Schreiner Iris Tribute on the Brighton Park Iris web site my picture seems to match what they have listed. http://www.brightonparkiris.com/mulberryrose.html Brighton Park Iris also includes a 1954 catalog description of Mulberry Ro...

Spuria iris

The last of the spuria iris blooms has finished and one of my favorites of the season was 'Missouri Iron Ore' (Niswonger, 1997). Sorry for the string tags in the picture--hubby was playing with pollen this year.

Companion ideas needed for 'Mulberry Rose'

This is an older iris but I like the unusual color pattern. I dislike this iris combined with the yellow irises in the background. What other perennials can I combine with MB? My only thought would be some dark heuchera in the foreground, but heuchera don't get very tall. Ideas anyone?

I think the name is actually 'Superstition' (Schreiners, 1977). Our club had it's annual iris show last weekend and a nice stalk of this variety took Best In Show.

Thanks Karma! I kept thinking of Keppel irises but none that quite matched. I think you're right! Unless someone else has any other suggestions, that's what I'm tagging it.

Calling all experts--I.D. challenge

Hopefully this will be an easy iris to I.D. It was supposed to be 'Celebration Song' but it is clearly not that iris! Anyone recognize this one?

Siberians in our garden just started this weekend with 'China Spring', which is a tall early bloomer (I'm guessing because of the typhifolia in its background). Tons of buds on the other Sibs and with today's warm weather it won't be long until they all open. Tall bearded have begun, too.
