wishiwere-having all those plants in the pond keeps the algae down. At this time of year the water hyacinths are multiplying so fast I have to pull some out every few days and throw them on the compost pile. But I can still see my fish, especially when I call them, they know it's feeding time and th...

happy fish

I have yet to see my first water lily bloom of the year, but besides that all is well with my little pond. Plants are growing, water is clear, fish seem healthy and happy. Lets see some pics of your pond!

One from today

This is one of my pots, photo taken today, I originally had a purple daisy-like thing in there too, but it looks like the other plants have crowded it out. That's OK, I like it anyway.

That's beautiful! I planted one last year, still waiting for the first bloom on it. I have it in partial shade, maybe it needs more sun. I hope it will be as pretty as yours one of these days

This is perfect timing! I noticed a few of these in one of the hosta beds today and wondered what they were. I have no idea where they came from, but at least I know what they are now. I like them (so far-I'll see if/how much they spread by next year.) Thanks for the info.

They're minis-a few of them were in their first year so will get a little bigger than they are in the picture, but they will always stay small.

I made my first trip last week-got two 6 packs of pansies, a pruning saw and a small hanging ceramic pot with "pockets" on the side. It will be perfect to hang from a tree with some of my mini hostas in it.

I bought Messenger last year and used it on some of my hostas that were planted in late summer. Didn't notice any difference at the time, but the ones I used it on are already showing eyes. I keep track of when the first eyes show up each year and only two of the non-Messenger hostas are showing eye...

I don't use any soil for my water lilies. I put them in a rectangular plastic mesh basket and cover the roots with rocks. Works well for me. :)

Char, well my silver lace vine is certainly VIGOROUS! It covered half the trellis the first year I planted it. I have to trim it a couple times every summer to keep it down to the size I want. (It would probably be growing up into the leaves of the tree by now if I didn't  ) I've heard it can r...

I have a cement birdbath and one made of black metal with a glass amber bowl. I have three wooden trellises for my honeysuckle & clematis and a copper arbor for my silver lace vine. I also have an abstract limestone sculpture that I bought at an art exhibit. It's only about a foot high and looks nic...
