Re: Don't forget - the open house/get together is August 1st
It was a weird gathering, only 8 of us (plus Chris, Brian, and Kristin) and very few customers shopping throughout the day. So we had an intimate gathering this year! I forgot to get out my camera AGAIN, but Art took a few pics of us. I only took a few of hostas. Oops. Next year will be the 15th ann...

Re: Question about transplanted hosta
Definitely leave the plant as is. I had rabbits eat Elvis Lives one year, all but a couple inches of petioles. I transplanted the roots to a bed where I wouldn't see it and curse the rabbits every day.. I honestly can't remember if it got new leaves that summer, but it came up normally the next spri...

Re: Teagate, 2015 pictures
Funny how we have such different experiences. Rainbow's End was strong in my garden, until I removed it for nematodes. Fall Dazzler has grown visibly since I got it last month, whereas First Mate has gone downhill every year. This might be the one it croaks. :hmm: Same with London Fog. Maybe I just ...

Ed, thanks for taking the time to post these. It's always interesting to see hostas outside your own garden.

Re: New hostas for me!
This is my first year trying the pine needles, so no reports on it yet. I was lucky and got them from a house we volunteered at for leaf cleanup in the fall. I mainly wanted to try it for looks. 1) It provides a nice background for the hostas to really stand out, and 2) my hostas get so DIRTY every ...

Re: New hostas for me!
The thing is, I'm usually very behind in planting new hostas. This year, I'm almost caught up!! Just have Royal Wedding, Fall Dazzler, and Inaho waiting right now. Oh, and Pineapple Poll that I pulled from a bed and haven't replanted yet. Do you mean the ground cover in the first pic? Sedum lineare ...

Re: New hostas for me!
I'm not sure what's gotten into me this year, but I have all three new hostas already planted. Here's My Cup of Tea. Just need to even the soil after it's watered in a couple more times, then add back the ground cover. http://i59.tinypic.com/w7ehhe.jpg Winter Snow http://i61.tinypic.com/bj8tj5.jpg A...

Re: Get together/summer open house 2015
I can make any of those dates, but the 1st is best. I think I'll just take those half Fridays off as garden time.

Get together/summer open house 2015
The get together is coming up on August 1st! I can't wait! I'm so excited! I have spring fever!! (Can you tell?) Every day, I sit here at work, doing my work because I'm good like that, and all I can think about is what I want to do in the garden when I get home. Or the next day. Or over the weekend...

Re: 'World Cup' - hosta of the day - please add your photos
I picked up mine at a local hosta sale in August. You can see that a few leaves were damaged in the recent hailstorm. I tend to stay away from cupped hostas (doubt I ever buy Abiqua Drinking Gourd) but I liked this one. I'm interested to see if it shows some mature leaves next year. Hosta World Cup ...

Re: Daily Hosta #2 - 'Blue Cadet' - Add your pics
Here's mine in mid August of 2013. I don't have any current pics because this hosta is just not one of my favorites (I keep forgetting to record it). I also don't care for Teaspoon, but that's another thread. Hosta Blue Cadet 2013-0816 https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5592/14857647949_1e87109f8a_b.jpg

Re: Pic of the Day--Blonde Elf
I divided mine after that pic from 2012, and it's same size again in 2014. Quick growing small hosta. More green this year, as it was moved to more shade and this pic was taken about six weeks earlier in the year. I didn't like the late summer leaf burnout. 'Alligator Alley' Hosta of the Day - add your photos
Aptly named, this medium to large sized hosta forms a coarsely textured mound of leathery, puckered, heart-shaped to round leaves of good substance. It is a wide-margined sport of the long-popular 'Dick Ward', which is named for one of the most accomplished Hosta breeders in the US. Its leaves displ...
