Re: Kiwi Full Monty HVX?

I did wonder that, as last year I thought my Pauls glory hav HVX and was told it was ok (Chris himself) I did however get rid of a Gold Standard as that was definately virused.

Re: Container growing question

All my plants are container grown (not much choice really), I only put them in bigger pots when needed and try and get them to the same level they were originally. I have lost none but I have no idea what the climate is like over there. England UK here.

Kiwi Full Monty HVX?

This year my Kiwi Full Monty has come up with a few of its leaves mottled in the centre. At the moment it's like a blue marbled flecking pattern (sorry no pictures). I purchased it last year and it was fine. Is this a sign of HVX? or can this some times happen with this variety? My Striptease (years...

I have had that happen too with a so called Liberty that became Cordelia then turned into something else, a complete no Idea plant. Also seen Sum and Substance labeled as Fire Island.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Dream Queen

That does look more like a GE than DQ to me too. My DQ has the much greater blue border but ater 3 years is still only one eye. Amazed it's lasted this long to be honest. My GE has gone from 2 eyes to 6 this year !!!!!!!!!!

Re: early spring Gold Standard

It does look stunningly fresh and new. I love the way some of them change completely as the season progresses as in Pauls Glory, Gold Standard, F aureomarginata etc, etc. I don't hve a GS any more as most I seem to see over here are nearly always virused.

Re: Gift hosta with no ID

From what I see on the picture I wouldn't be so sure it was an albopicta. To me they are much more of a contrast centre to the green margin. Perhaps it's the light (sun) on it. Would still give it time though as I may be wrong. Albopicta will green out later (viridescent) turning to complete green l...

Re: Gift hosta with no ID

See how it looks another month or so on from now. The sun on the leaves also doesnt help to identify it. I have a feeling it may change colour once it has been open a while.

Re: Pics from today and 1 noid

The No ID looks like it could change as the season progresses. Can you remember where you got it or if it was an expensive hosta? I am tempted to say it may be a F auromarginata but a lot of yellow margined look similar when they first emerge.

I am probably wrong but could your no id be "Night before Christmas" it looks to have some of that ones attributes. Wouldn't stake my life on it though.

This can happen with Francee, mine have produced what I thought were going to be sports but it turned out to be just the odd leaf that did it.

Re: forced plant/s

Yes I did wonder that with Praying hands having a bit of substance to it. Had it have been my other choice (Fire and Ice) I most definately would have left that one in the loft. Thanks

Re: Forcing potted hostas?

After reading through this topic I decided to put "praying hands" in the loft. It's always so slow to get going. What an amazing surprise after just under 4 weeks it has shoots of about 3 inches tall. It's not usually showing until about May. Will leave it where it is until the weather gets a bit wa...
