Re: Tip Toeing through the Stilettos
Maybe that's why I don't have grasshoppers or snakes. Never saw a snake here and rarely see a grasshopper. Who would have thought the little guys could do that?

Re: Hosta ID
I was thinking the same on the ID. Nematodes; I take those pretty seriously. I went out and searched the plant and can't find that marking. I had just repotted it. I am posting the picture from 5 minutes before I carried it out of my slug area. I did put the hosta in quarantine to watch it. Thanks A...

Re: Sharing Flowers
Great meeting again Carol! I love that flower. I'm always amazed how similar flowers can look, but when photographed you can see differences not readily seen with the naked eye.

Thanks Ann, sorry I didn't look there first. I'll remember that next time. It's such a wonderful idea to be able to find a variety of pics from different sources. Thanks again!

Hosta ID
I was given this hosta when someone got a new house and this was in the yard. No ID. Any guesses? I haven't seen the blooms to know what they look like. Thanks in advance.

Re: Winterizing Question/opinions
I agree Ann, but with living in the city with no land, it's not an option for me. It would be like telling someone who lives in an apt. to bury them. I never lost more than 10 out of 300, but this last winter I lost half. It was the first winter I kept them all totally dry. Even with that, there rea...

Re: Winterizing Question/opinions
Thanks for responding. I'm always confused with some people saying; not one ounce of water in the winter and others say; I water them or leave them outside. Most are talking the kind of winters I get in zone 5, but information seems to vary. My take is that it depends on whether it stays in the free...

Winterizing Question/opinions
I'd like to get some opinions as I'm rethinking my winterizing of my container grown hostas. I've spoken to people who just keep them upright, others who turn them on their side, and others who cover them. What's your way? I used to put about 3" of maple leaves from my tree on the pots. I would stac...

This was pretty small when I got it. Very large and full now at 8 years old.

Re: Pineapple Upside Down Cake
I think that's why it does so well. It's in full afternoon sun. I never realized it could get as large as it did. If you have any pics, would love to see them.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Just sharing a picture. Everyone who comes in my yard is always asking me which hosta this is because it's pretty big. Have to say that my Pineapple Upside Down Cake is very prolific.

Thanks. I almost gave it away when I found out it was sterile, but too cute to get rid of.

My Baby bunting. I just repotted it as it was too big for it's container. This is before I repotted it.

Re: Repotting Hosta
Thanks. We are having a pretty wet summer right now, rain almost every day this week. Winter I will probably cover them. Here in zone 5 we can get pretty wet and inconsistent temps.
