So it could be a juvenile Northern Goshawk(?), a Red-tailed hawk (more positive?), or (rare in the eastern US)...Ferruginous Hawk?
Really have no idea...also got some thought on it being a Coopers Hawk or a young Osprey.
who knows....

Bird ID? Large...
Caught this bird eating a squirrel this morning. He/She sat there for some time munching and tearing away. Finally it flew off, but I did get a couple pictures. I just wish it hadn't sat in the shadow of the tree. Oh well.... Any thought on what it might be? The legs were huge and very white with lo...

Re: Potted Hostas
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions....seems I had more in pots than I realize :???: Trying a couple different things I guess. 22 in outdoor shed out of the elements. Mostly the clay pots here as I don't want them to freeze and crack. Thanks for the reminder Tigger. These are the one's I'll...

Potted Hostas
Can I get a little help here........ :D OK, I've got several hostas I plan on leaving in pots for the winter. This is probably the best week for me to put them to bed. Is it as simple as putting them in our outdoor shed for the winter? :hmm: Should I water them at all before they are winterized? I c...

Re: Guacamole Seeds
I'm wondering if that will be the case. When I finally do take them off and open them up I'll look/feel for a little bump at the end as the kernel. If I get enough of those I may plant to see what happens.

Guacamole Seeds
Has anyone tried seeds from Guacamole?
One of mine has about 3 "huge" seed pods on it. If I can find a couple kernels in them, I was going to try. Just curious to know if anyone has experience with them.

Re: Hallson gathering group photo
After the reaction I got to my 'Six Degrees of Hosta Separation' quiz at my get-together, I decided not to subject anyone to actually taking it there. I included the quizzes in the Halcyon info I handed out. I'll post the answers early next week. [When I remember to do it.] So everyone will have al...

Re: Hallson gathering group photo
We didn't stay at the Claddaugh, but did see a "For Sale" sign in the front yard of it. Not sure what 's going on there. Sorry. However, the Brickhouse B&B was great. I would highly recommend it if anyone goes by and needs a place to stay. Steph and I had a wonderful time again. Chris and Brian put ...

Re: Leaf Show Follow Up
Thanks everyone. They did have a great time. I think you're right about having their own plants. Collin has several and generally shares/trades with one of the kids up the street whose grandma is really into it too. I'm sure at some point he'll lose interest, but we'll do it while he's having fun. C...

Leaf Show Follow Up
Well, both the kids entered the leaf show (something I haven't even done!). They were the only ones competing in the youth division. Courtney ended up with 1 blue (Emerald Necklace) and 2 yellow ribbons (Night Before Christmas and Formal Attire). Collin ended up with 2 blue (First Frost and Riptide)...

Re: Bird ID?
Could have been a Carolina Wren...I've seen lots of those at our house. This was at my SIL's house. Really like the Carolina Wren when it sings. This little bird was not signing. Kept flying all around the tree I was parked near. I could hear it's babies in the bird house nearby. That bird was fasts...
