Re: Hosta College

Well, I'm all signed up. It will be good to see Mary and Paul again. I will look forward to meeting Reldon and Linda as well. Hope to meet many other people again this year. I am really looking forward to it!

Re: h.' Little Jay' and 'Tropical Storm'

Chris, I've grown Little Treasure for the last 2 years now and it is a very good grower here. It sold really well when it was new and not inexpensive, so I'm sure it will go even faster now that the price is down so much! Gotta love these great little hostas!

Re: h.' Little Jay' and 'Tropical Storm'

Little Jay grows well here. I really like it. It has more substance than I would have thought.
As for TS, it is a reverse of Rainforest Sunrise. I have some coming in a couple of months, but if it is anything like RS, it will be a hit!

Re: Midwest Convention Garden #2

Nice pics on these posts Reldon. The gardens look so inviting, especially right now as I am listening to the wind howling and seeing the snow fly! The first pic here on this set of photos is not a Magnolia, though it looks like it could be related. It is a Calycanthus floridus or Carolina Allspice. ...

Ours always looks great. I get a lot of people requesting one based on it. It is in full shade as well.

How to divide daylilies

Hi all, I am looking for some help. I am doing a talk on daylilies in a couple of months. Apparently, they would like me to include instructions on dividing daylilies. I thought it would be a good idea if I had some pics of the process to show them instead of just listening to me babble on. (I alway...

Re: Virus X

Linda, I wouldn't shop there either! HVX is a virus, not a genetic disorder. So you can't breed it out of hostas. It is so important for nurseries to be educated in plant diseases so that they don't pass on sick plants to their customers! I think I would go back and give them some links to HVX so th...

Re: Date for the Hallson Summer Get Together!

The leaves look great! Nice to see a pic of part of the growing area. We were sure thinking of you guys this weekend. I am sitting here at work right now thinking that I should be home in bed dreaming of the fun that we had at Hallson's on the weekend....but I can't because we weren't there. :( I ho...

Re: Virus in a friend's hosta?

Hi Ann. I would be very suspicious of this one as well. Even if it's not HVX, it certainly looks like some sort of virus to me. I think that we all get caught up in this HVX thing and forget that there are other virus' out there as well. If I had any doubt, I would destroy the plant. It's not worth ...

Re: Bubbling Rock Pond

I don't shake my head at that one, it's the new garden that he posted on the other thread. We had one pond there and I came home from work one day and he had stuck a little one in there too. I thought it was overkill and had suggested he not put it in. Of course he didn't listen! It does look ...

Re: Hallson Get Together!

I'm sitting here in denial. I wanted to go to the convention this year. Took the time off and everything. Now I can't go. :( Looks like we won't be able to go to Hallson's this year either. :( I sure hope another Canadian will be able to take our place. I am so bummed! Anyone who can make it that ha...

Re: Ice Age Trail

All of mine have done really well here. I think I only lost one. Sold most of them last year. I have 2 in the display gardens and both were doing well when they went to sleep. Of course, it's way too early to see them yet! It snowed all day yesterday here! It is a slow grower though.

Hosta College

I just returned from Hosta College this afternoon. What a wonderful time! I met so many hosta people. I learned a lot too. I made a hypertufa planter and accidentally went to the wrong class and got to make a garden sphere as well.  At least I was able to provide some laughs!! I saw Mary...
