Re: Daily Hosta #5 - 'Moonstruck' - Add your pics

My Moonstruck seemed to flourish once I stuck it in a pot. Here's last year's picture. It wasn't much bigger than this when I potted it up in June. It was a pleasant surprise to see how much Moonstruck grew in the pot and how nice it looks in late September! http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx330/...

Second year in our gardens, it was being strangled by Maple tree roots, so I moved it late in the season last year.

Re: whats your fall garden chores for your Hosta's

I cleanup all the hostas in the front after all the leaves have fallen from the trees. I leave the ones in the back gardens to cleanup in the spring. The hostas in the front get in the way of the 30,000 plus Christmas lights we put up every year.

Re: Daily Hosta - 'Paradise Island'

Second year in the pot. It popped up in late March so we had to take it and and out of the house for almost two months this year! Here's what it looked like on April 7:

Second year. We moved it early this spring where it gets a lot more sun light. I love how this one looks in September!

Re: Daily Hosta #1 - 'Cherish' - Add your pics

Here's my Cherish, I bought this one from Hosta Liners this spring (2012). I was amazed to see how much it's grown. It's sat in this pot in the back of the garden in mostly shade all summer, totally ignored.

Owen, is the duck pond near you? I'd love to get some pictures of the underside of the leaf..... then we can compare frost damage versus HVX.

Red Alert - Streaking?

I've been meaning to pick this one up from Hallsons for two years now. For some reason, despite filling the car up with hostas, this one has never made it home with us. I saw it yesterday at a nursery and told my DH to grab one. I didn't notice the streaked shoots until I watered it this morning. Is...

Re: Did everyone cover what they needed to for some frost?

We used every pot, bucket, and cardboard box and finally resorted to getting sheets from Goodwill to get everything covered up. Moved some of the plant markers to make some tents around the tender leaves. I'm going to be sewing sheets together in the shape of the beds to make it easier to cover thin...
