New Seedling

Am I bad! I got a packet of seeds from this forum, planted them, and watched them grow for the last 2 years. Now, this one is blooming, and I don't have the names of the cross. The flower is beautiful, with gold frilly edge, a good substance to the flower itself. Here it is. With no background infor...

Re: Why are some of my hosta getting smaller?

I did a raised bed, under a maple tree (this was at least 6 years ago). I used copper impregnated cloth that I purchased on line from a nursery. I overlapped the cloth and it went up the sides of the raised bed. Then I filled the bed with mineral enriched sifted topsoil. I now notice that in the las...

Re: My latest quilt project

The squares didn't start out as a planned quilt. I have a book of potholders with each one a different quilt square. I liked the way they went together, and it went from there into this quilt. Most of them are hand sewn, since I did it while we were traveling on vacation-in the truck, no less! CHAR

My latest quilt project

Since I made a zoo quilt for my grandson, I used the same fabrics to make a quilt for his father. I made squares with the zebra, giraffe, snake, gorilla, peacock, and all the rest of the fabrics. This way, my grandson is certainly going to bond with his father, simply over the two quilts. It was suc...

Re: Six Months Ago - 8/9/09

Nice bunch of pictures. And yes, with tons of snow over the top of everything right about now, spring seems a looong way off. But the nice greenness of everything reminds me of my neighbor who was looking at my backyard hostas. She said "Its all so GREEN". She was thinking I needed a lot more colors...

Re: Wild and Lovely Purse.

No, its a pattern I found. I liked the looks of it, and since I look at every piece of fabric when I go to the fabric store, I finally found this piece. I think I would like to make purses, but I saw a vender at one of the craft shows, who had beautiful bags, but they wern't selling. My geographical...

Witch Hazel

I had always thought that Witch Hazel bloomed in the spring, early, just after the last snow. And that thought is probably why I missed the first 3 years blooming of mine. I happened to notice one winter, that my witch hazel had blooms on it. And in subsequent years it also bloomed in December. They...

Wild and Lovely Purse.

This purse was a gift for my daughter in law. She wears, carry's, and uses lots of stuff with bright colors. So when her birthday came around, I made this purse/carrying bag for her. Very simple to make, and on top of that the material (a heavy canvas) was on sale. You can't beat that for a deal. CHAR

Cardinals

After the big storm, all the bird feeders were choked with snow. I went out , cleaned them out and refilled.
Immediately the birds started coming in. Since we live right next to a woody area, there are plenty of places to
sit and wait for 'grub'.

Witch Hazel is BLOOMING!

The whole shrub is full, and I mean full, of tiny little yellow flowers. I always thought that they bloomed in the spring, but mine always blooms now. I can go out on my back deck and look down and there it is, in all its glory. And right now, it is covered in snow. So I can't see it. Too bad. CHAR

Wedding quilt

This is my latest project. My son just got married in October, and I made this quilt for their wedding gift. The pattern is English Wedding Ring. Happy, bright colors. It is queen sized and looks great I think there are not enough handcrafted gifts given these days. CHAR
