Pet Peeve
Pet Peeve - "Why do you have so many hostas? They all look alike." or "They're just another green plant." or "How stupid, to spend all that money on hostas." or "I'd love to have a start of that." How RUDE!!! and, yes - hostas that are planted directly under thick tree canopies that get no water or ...

Out to Lunch
Jamie, Thanx! for posting results of FL Auction. It would be good if the AHS Auction results were done in like manner. I really enjoy viewing it. But! I can't believe I let time get away from me & really didn't follow this auction closely. I must really be getting old / senile. :hmm: I wanted ...

Over-winter
I live in zone 4-5. We leave our lotus in the pond over-winter. We just move it to deeper water 2&1/2-3'. It survives just fine.

Sedum Plop!
I'm considering growing my large / tall species sedums in peony cages next year. I hate it when they plop flat but most do. I think it's nature's design to let sun get to those new little stems that are starting. They don't know it's fall & winter's on the way. If we were in warmer zones we could cu...

Double Blood Root
Phyllis, Double Blood Root has to be one of the most wonderful little woodland plants in the entire world. The first time I saw just the single Blood Root I was captivated by it. It was several years before I actually found someone who had some to share. I traded hostas for it. Then for the double B...

Linda, I enjoyed reading about your family & gardening. Your pictures are lovely. I always wanted to be a farmer's wife. I did live on an acerage for several years while my girls were growing up. It was a good life with veggie & flower gardens, ponies/horses, chickens, pet pigs, little goats, dogs, ...

WOW!
Fantastic pictures. Thanx! for sharing. Those are award winning photos! I ordered pitcher plants from PD last March but then chickened out & canceled the order. There was too much time to think about it before they shipped them. I don't know anyone who grows them around here. They are awesome plants...

Jackie's Garden Bell
Hostaaddict's Garden Bell I love visiting Jackie's Garden. A sense of serentiy penetrates every nook & cranny. We met via this forum & now are best friends. Jackie lives on the shoreline of a small private lake in the heart of Iowa. She is a faithful "Hallsonite". Her garden reflects her artist-touc...
