Re: Trooper

The picture of Trooper on the RWDC Awards page is at about 7-8 months old. The GSD goes through color changes till about 3 yrs old and he's almost solid black on the body now at 5. He's also a long coated GSD. The pic is his summer coat. In the winter he has a mane like a lion or comparable to a sho...

Re: Trooper

Hope you like them. Trooper was about 12 wks old in the pics. By that time I expect a sit, down, short stay and a good recall from about 6-8ft. With this method it's ALL fun for the dog and no stress from corrections. Working on the recall. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/oldearthdog/recall.j...

Re: Trooper

I did find (only one) picture of Trooper in the RWDC site. It's under "Awards" and the dogs are in alphabetical order. Trooper is a dog or two below Thunder. He got his CGC while I was still there. His TT since I left. I still hope to get at the very least his CD and Thunder's UD title.

Re: Dead Shade Hosta Suggestions

Interesting about the "blue ones" and no sun. My Guarding Angel is in a spot this year with no direct sun at all but good light and it was very green. High heat maybe? I also have Diamond Tierra (sp), Ginko Craig there with a couple of different ferns. All are growing nicely but it does take extra w...

Re: Thought I'd add a little life here.

The training I do is all about the dog enjoying it as much as me. The video shows it can be done. No need for the classic yank and crank for a high level dog. I had left the club by the time they did the video so that's the reason there is nothing there on my two dogs. Still working on the other pos...

Re: Trooper

:hmm: Frustrating! The other post goes to the club site I used to be with. These go to the web site I help moderate (not pet friendly ) and that requires a log in. I though it would show the pics though. :bawl: The video on the club site (other post here) was made after I left so nothing of my ...

Trooper

This is my younger GSD when he was 12 weeks old, now 5yrs. This is the type training we do. The recall, eye focus on handler and heeling. More about imprinting then training. It's all made into a game with the dogs. http://www.workingdogforum.com/vBulleti ... ndex2.html

Hypertuffa

Does anyone know how long this stuff will last outdoors, used as a pot for plants? Looks very interesting and I'm thinking of doing a little sculpting in the stuff after being away from the arts for more then a few years. It will be the Hypertuffa or this type of work in concrete. http://fauxboisinc...

Thought I'd add a little life here.

This is the club I used to belong to. Watch the video to get an explanation of the training methods we used. All Operant Conditioning with marker training (clicker training) and NO physical corrections. http://www.rwdc.org/ Click on 'Past Dogs' and then Thunder. All his titles, including Search and ...

Re: What am I doing wrong?

It took me a long time to realize that without excellent drainage they are doomed. At best they just get smaller each year without it.

Re: Root problem- help needed

 I'm so happy that we got enough rain in the last few days so I could put my hose away. Watering all day every day for three months, with just a few days off here and there has been no fun. I do have sprinklers, since I have so many large beds to water, bit I'm out there moving the hose every ...

Re: Root problem- help needed

It's hard to beat a good soaking. I in - 25mm spread out 1-2-3 mm at a time may not really have a chance to soak in deep enough to make the roots reach down for it..

Re: I Wish My Hostas Grew Faster

I would probably have to blow up a Silver maple and a Tulip Poplar for most of my hostas to see that happen.

Re: Night Before Christmas

Thanks Chris! I was hoping it was something like that. I was getting splinters in my fingers trying to figure out the earlier posts. Temps in the 100s lately have me watering every day. No rain and the lowest high temp for the past month or more has been mid 90s. All sorts of records being bro...

Night Before Christmas

First year with NBC. The new leaves are green with a dark green edge. Is this normal and they lighten up or is it sporting?
When I received it I divided it and put it in two places. Both are doing it.

Re: Doggone critters!!!

I'm a great lover of wild life but unless it's an endangered species it's gone if it gets in the garden. Not to start any "stuff' but how do those here that have a no kill policy feel about slugs, snails, weevils, beetles, etc that invade the garden? Are they pests or another critter to leave alone?...
