Re: Volunteers
I have one that I had been trying to identify for years, just called it Dad's green one. It's like a smaller version of Elegans that is not blue, it's a matte finish green with some rugosity. When my parents bought the house it was growing alongside the house next to the gravel driveway with nothing...

Re: Could This Be Dress Blues?
Dress Blues is pretty upright, like a small Krossa Regal. This looks like Lacey Belle to me. The edges on yours are a little wavier than I expect.
Now you have to get Dress Blues and Lacey Belle to be sure.

Re: Some Seedlings Showing Signs...
That's how mine looked last year, except more divisions. It looks like lancifolia, which is its heritage. Now it looks like a small shiny gold Cinnamon Sticks, with the rounder leaves.
Hard to believe it's the same plant!

Re: Help with ID
First - Paul's Glory, I feel very confident. Second, not a sport of whirlwind like Dust Devil, the leaves would be upright. Looks like El Capitan to me. A little like Lil Abner or Rosedale Misty Pathways. Carnival... well maybe but it looks better than Carnival. Could the last one be Diana Remembered?

Re: I give up!
Streaked plants are about the hardest to Identify, but put up pics and we will try. The Leading Lady vs. Sum It Up will be easy eventually. Sum it Up acts just like Sum and Substance, the leaves are rubbery and roundand will flower at the same time. Leading Lady is not related so the leaves are shap...

I got a free S&S sort of like that, when I admired the garden in a rental propertty and the guy who lived there said he was planning to dig it all up and put new plants in... Got a big Paul's Glory too. I didn't know the ID at the time, but wow, was it impressive!

Hi Kathleen!
Anybody who doesn't know what she is talking about, you can listen to the music at www.easystreetband.com, but the CD quality is better.
I'm playing the trombone on a few of the tracks.
Dale from the forum has even come to a show.

Definitely Sum and Substance.
no. Definitely Squash Casserole.
No... Manhattan, that's it.
No Um Maybe Jimmy Crack Corn.
No wait... Sea Gulf Stream.
Well . Not really that sure after all.
Now if I am right, I deserve a prize.

Thanks all.
Looking again at the Spring Fling photo, that dark green one might be Second Wind, which is an all green version of Whirlwind.

Re: Some of my garden shots today
Yes, I bought it two years ago. Many of the plants are 5 or 6 years old because they grew in my other house garden, and I took the whole clump when I left. I think the most amazing thing is, they all lived in pots for a whole year in between! This is why I love hostas, they grow and are hard to kill...
