2017 update - Aug. 5. The main plant did well. I gave away all the divisions of the sport.

How long since you've been here? I've been around long enough I likely should remember you. Welcome back. Do you still have some hostas?

2017 I LOVE this hosta. It grows better for me than either 'Fire Island' or 'Paradise Island'. It DID have some slug damage in 2017 as we had constant rain. Photo Aug. 15 Looking into the plant - July 1

2017 - July 27 and getting smaller. I expect this one will bit the dust too at some point and I won't bother replacing it.

2017 - It's still at the back of my veggie garden and still doing much better than it did in the hosta garden. Aug. 15, 2017.

2017 update - July 19

2017 - much the same. But this one is showing some "fairy ring" and I'll dig it in 2018, give some away and pot some of it closer together again. This photo July 27.

2017 - I finally dug and divided this one. Got a couple of large divisions of 'Big Daddy' from it and a nice streaked IAT as well. I still have it in a pot, but will look for a garden location. 2017 update. I have kept all these plants in the round trough and simply mounded unscreened compost over it in autumn and the plants have survived well so far - well all except 'Cherish', but it's been so small for so long that I'm always amazed when it does come back. 2017 - This one was too crowded. I dug and divided it with one division going to the auction at my Hort. Society this spring (2018). The one I kept got dug up by squirrels twice before I got it protected with decorative stones. Consequently, it was suffering a bit in spring 2018 and is now in a pot ...

2017 - This one was moved at the beginning of the season to a location with more light and I think it is doing better. Photo July 19.

Between a very dry, sunny year in 2016 and a very wet year in 2017, this one grew a LOT. Obviously really likes the new location.

2017 update - July 9. This one is fascinating because of the way it changes colour. Mine did well in 2017 but we also had way too much rain and slugs were a problem.

The division with more sun Aug. 5 The other division Aug. 15. This one also is farther from the tree; so effectively gets more moisture and is growing faster.

I did not have my own GA until 2017. But I had bought one and planted it in the hosta garden at my church. I had hoped to get a division from it in 2016 but that didn't happen. In 2017, we lost the shade tree for that hosta garden and the "powers" (read the self-appointed head gardener) decreed that...
