Wow, that is a bunch of flowers. You may want to ask your pruning questions over in the japanese garden forum, they may have some answers for your pine tree.

Re: Looks like frost is on the way!

Chris, do you have an air compresser? Blowing the water out of the hoses (I had to do it with my lungs at the barns I worked at) really works well. It's much more effective than letting gravety work because some water is usually left in there that freezes on you. Just throwing that out there in case...

Re: What's still blooming?

I know my plants can't really count for your list, my plantagenia was blooming in Feb., the others were blooming through spring. Paul's Glory is now sending up a flower stalk for the first time in over a year. It's in a spot that gets more direct light then most of the others and it gets (and uses) ...

Re: I Made Gnocchi!!

You could probably mix a small amount of cheese in if you wanted. It's litterally "potato pillows". It's not a pasta. I don't think you can stuff it like ravioli. I bet there's a video or two on youtube. I first had it in an Itallian resturaunt run by an Itallian family, they made all their pasta fr...

For the size of the plant Twist of Lime was pretty tall. I didn't measure it though.

Re: Does anyone "trim" their hostas?

I just pull leaves as they start to get yellow. If they don't want to be pulled I leave them for the next day or so until they pull out easy. But then I have only 12 or so plants. :)

Re: Betty and her spay

She should be fine on Friday. :) Chances are if you don't get her spayed now then you will later on in her life when she could get pyometra (infected uterus) or some sort of cancer. It's just a little glitch that happens sometimes and is resolved with a different kind of drug. Sounds like they are b...

Re: Very pretty snake - Eastern milk snake

Beautiful snake! I've never seen one of those. I've seen a lot of black racers around here, even as close as the bush at the base of the stairs. Sure had the attention of all the anoles!! But with the poisonous ones, don't let size fool you, the babies pack as big a punch as the adults - and can be ...

Just make sure you collect those seeds and grow some little pinkie mice from that plant. :D Extra vole protection too. We'll be watching.

Re: New Warblers For Me!

Good job! They sure are tricky to get on the camera aren't they? I got a black throated blue warbler this spring before they headed north. Hopefully I can get more this October or further into "winter".
