I thought a horse fly, but have not ever seen one, and the only horses here are about 1 mile away. Although I ride over near some now, and maybe he hitched a ride to the herbgarden? UGLY thing! Looks nasty up close and I'm not afraid of bees, but didn't want anything to do with the likes of him!

More ant ID's?
Little teeny bright red ones! These showed up in a swarm or just before a swarm actually. They were undermining the Patio, so I put out terro. I mean, seriously undermining. That area is about 2X 2 inches where they've dug out all the dirt and sand below! Most ants I've seen on there have just built...

BUG ID's pretty please?
Thanks to anyone who can help! Seems I'm surrounded by bugs I've never seen before! Hm....you'd think with all these birds, they'd control them! Then again....OH! I didn't feed this last winter and have 1/4 the feeders, so maybe that's why this year I'm seeing them! Oh my! Bugs or feed the birds.. I...

:D Pia, I wish I had been there and one of those pillows would have been MINE! :D But alas, I thought perhaps it should be those in attendance who got them! Lucy won't quit talking about hers! :D I have the perfect rocker I would use it in, but she's got it in her truck! Don't you think she should h...

Wow! My speakers aren't working, so I didn't get to hear it, but my heart was scared and happy at the same time, fearing the worse and overjoyed at the immeasuable love that was seen! How strange the female was friendly, huh? So weird! Was this in a wildlife preserve, or in the actually wild? VERY c...

Re: Pumpkins?
Jane, you are asking the wrong person! :D This is MY virgin go around with pumpkins! I tried watermelons several years ago, or maybe a few yrs, but that got taken over with weeds, so it produced not much :( These are as I said, growing about 15' from the base, so who knows how they'll do. Hopefully ...

Re: Pumpkins?
Not sure how 'giant' they'll get, b/c she started them with her tomato and such, and I"m sure those who grow the really big ones start them a lot earlier than that! :D Also, I'm having a hard time cutting out the extras :( I'm told you have to weed them to one per plant to get the REALLY big ones. S...

Re: Pumpkins?
These were store bought seeds she started in the house, so they should be pumpkins then unless...... I just had never seen a pumpkin at this age, so didn't know if they were that yellow? Interesting though. I'll save some seeds and see what happens next year. As you can see, they've grown about 15 f...

Re: Who is this?
You two are great for ID'ing him! Man, this is so cool! 2 new species to add to our list! The other is a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher! Very pretty little bird. Neither we've seen here before, and with all the construction of late (last 3 years) we've seen a decline in others, and were worried. Like Blu...

Send me a PM of your hometown, b/c stan's making runs down there somewhere I think now! But then...he's not doing the list of where he's going, so I forget as soon as we hang up! :D You know I'd be down there in a minute, if I had tank full! Haven't had that for over a year. Then again...maybe that'...
