Had to rip out most of my asiatics
My Asiatics and panther lilies have been attacked with the dreaded red lily beetle. they devoured all the foliage and flower buds. I never saw them before this year or had any problems. I just soaked the soil in the areas with spinosad and just ordered Imidacloprid drench for the Spring. Anyone else...

Jolly Red Giant
This one is also new so it hasn't reached its full height yet-this stalk tops out at 43" supposed to get to 68", but a beauty none the less.

Re: my list/your list
ugh-deer-so glad I don't have that problem, not too many rabbits either. I have some critter that took out my false cypress shrub, don't know what it was. But no deer, I have a 6 foot stockade fence around my property.

Re: New hostas for me!
Oh what a great idea regarding the dirt on the hosta, I have the same problem ( now also have the tree debris in all the leaves, nothing can be done about that) I may look into the pine needle mulch just for the splash back if nothing else. Thanks for that idea!

Re: New hostas for me!
I don't pot to many Hosta so I try to get the planting chore out of the way and put them in their home, not many new ones this year as the ones I put in a year or two ago are getting pretty big and am running out of room  I meant the pine needles, looks so nice and neat. Does it keep the slugs ...

Finally my Hosta are worthy of a photo this season. These did great, some of my others seem smaller this year in other parts of my yard.

Re: Kiwi Full Monty today ( new last fall)
Yes these are nice healthy ones-several eyes apiece, must like the spot I put them in. Hope we get some rain, they keep saying rain and then just a few drops. Looking forward to your photos.

Re: Weedlings in the garden - are you saving some?
Agree-during the cold spell last month one of my huge pine trees fell and landed into one of my other pine trees (saved my roof) I already cleaned up all my leaves. I only have a couple of potted hosta. Our forecast is not below 32, they said 36 tonight.

I heard that also-crossing fingers. However none of my hosta are more than little pips except maybe one or two. So maybe not too much damage

Re: Hosta 'The King'
Looks like its going to be a nice sized plant, nice to see unfurling Hosta, about 1/2 of mine are finally breaking ground. Only one starting to unfurl is Francee. Said on the news this morning that we are a month behind schedule for plants. Only flowers I have in bloom are Hellebores, Anenome Blanda...
