I fold the foil up in 3rds the pollen loaded Q-uip, fold over the sides, flatten it to get rid of air pockets, then into a film cannister. That pollen I used was as bright a yellow as when i gathered it! ( The f...

r some emergency pollen from last year in the bottom of my freezer....... I would like to express my appreciation to whoever came up with the pollen-loaded halved Q-tip in folded foil in which to both collect and dispense pollen. Better than "expressing my appreciation"......make that somewhere betw...

Re: Hosta Watering question....
Does anyone here use an automatic sprinkler system? If so how much water should I be dedicating to the hosta gardens per week. If you can convert it into GPH, this would help a great deal so we know how to adjust the sprinkler system correctly. I haven't a clue :-? 3x a week for 3 hours each wateri...

Mine is "semi-gloss", not high gloss like Queen Jospehine, whereas all of my other yellow green What I meant to say was "all of my other yellow green seedlings are matte. I have a tray of yellow seedlings, and this morning I noticed a single one with HIGH gloss---I'll take a photo after I go to the...

is it from the registered hosta named olive oil? i've been looking for that plant but can't find it. doug No, I didn't even know one existed--Just an "assigned" name. It is from a 2nd gen. seedling of lost tag progeny(!) OP :-) Just looked it up in HL, I'm surprised someone would choose that goofy ...

"Olive Oil" seedling
Even at the 2-leaf stage, this seedling stood out. Yes, it was a yellow, but it was different from the others, in that it had an olive cast.......and the leaves were shiny. The leaves have a nice "droopy" habit, and the color has stayed consistent all 6 + months. Nicknamed: "Olive Oil". In this phot...

Back to TC vs. mail order grower discussion. Much of the time the "2nd year TC' is a tc that's a TC that's gone thru one domancy....and a day, which technically means it is in it's "2nd year". I find such disappointedly small for the price. And I'm usually looking at plant that I'll have to wait for...
