Embroidry missing
Hi everyone. Dont you just love this time of year when all the hostas are poppin up.? With the exception of of course the expensive ones. THis year it my embroidry thats gone missing. Last year it was smaller than the year before, but this time NOTHING. No sign of her anywhere, its like it never existed. Seems like I read here last year that a few others had problems with that hosta. Is it worth replacing? It was beautiful while it was here . I wish I could find my picture of it.

Honestly, and bluntly, I would say no, it's not worth replacing. I've grown it, owned it, divided it, and killed it. In the spring, it's interesting, but then it just fades into more of a "curiosity" rather than a beautiful hosta later in the year. Sure, Aden wrote about it and it once sold for $250+ dollars, but it's overrated in my book.wingnut wrote:Is it worth replacing? It was beautiful while it was here . We've just done the first day of our garden tours and deck sale... sold over $1000 between 3 PM and dark and did lots of garden walks...
of my two "display" embroiderys, one is up a little bit and looks intriguing if you look really closely, the other is barely up at all. And the two in the holding bed haven't emerged yet.
I always point out my Embroidery plants and tell people how unusual they are. Typical response is "ho-hum..."
I think Embroidery is an interesting novelty, but certainly not worth investing in for the typical gardener.
It does have one fringe benefit... it regularly sports to a very large-leaved variety which shows none of the parent puckering or stitching... just really big, nice leaves. I've got one whole area dedicated to these sports. Has somebody named the big-leafed non-Embroidery Embroidery sports? Can't remember right now, having worked a 20 hour day and imbibed significant quantaties of my friend, Mr. Jameson...

And it is rather cheap

Cheap?
If you look in your hosta finder you will see that Embroidery has a bunch of high prices and one very low price $14.75 - The Flower Factory. Sure is fun to live only 20 minutes away from it. They sold out of Embroidery in the first week. Glad I got a few before it happened and they were multi-eyed to top off the deal.
