Hi All--Brenda's Beauty is not a variety that I would recommend. It starts the season as a very attractive plant but by mid-season it is burned out. I got the plant in 1999 and have it growing in a spot that gets about 3 hours of mid-day sun and high shade for most of the rest of the day. Starting in 2001 it measured 23x10, 26x10, 30x15, 29x12, and 32x17. Zilis lists it at 46x18 and Lemke at 26x15. I am showing one photo taken in late June and another from late August which shows there was so much burnout that a 2nd flush of leaves had emerged.

I purchased Brenda's Beauty Last year because of the interesting "Carmel" color! It's disappointing to see the effects later in the season. I have mine in mostly shade, with indirect sunlight. I'm hoping for "some" results this spring. The research that I've done suggests that it doesn't hold that color into summer. Live and learn I guess!
This is one of the reasons why I'm starting to research plants before I purchase them!

Too bad about the burn-out because it sure is a beauty early in the season.

Re: Pic of the Day--Brenda's Beauty
I was cleaning out a Hosta bed today and found this one looking pretty good. The color pattern reminded me of a sport I have.
I have no idea what that little gold thing to the left is - it's not on my garden map and it doesn't seem like weedling.
