Spring Secret trade 2008?

Post by Nathalie23 »

Hi!

It's been a long time I came on Hallson's Forum. Like the plants, in the winter, I'm in sleeping stage!!! We have a lot, a lot, a lot of snow this winter. My pool didn't support the weigh of the snow... The last snow disappear last weak and I begin to see some hosta's eyes already!!!

I love to do secret trade with you, all hosta's lovers! and I was wondering if the spring secret trade was already organize? If not, like in summer 2007, I can offer me!

Hope to hear some news soon! Good night!
Nathalie

Hi Nathalie!

I was just thinking about a Secret Trade, as it is nearing Memorial Day here, and we had one once about that time. [This year it is 26 May.]

Would be very happy to have you host it again if you like!

Thanks,

John

Hi!

I was just wondering if this group ever did anything like this, so I'd definitely be interested!

I've done a lot of plant trades, but never a "secret hosta trade". How does it work?

The hosta will gather all the names of the participants and send us via PM who we're supposed to send hostas to. So you won't know who got your name till you get your plants. There's also a place somewhere on this forum where you can list the hostas you have and a wish list.

Debbie, the "hosta" will gather all the names?

I know you meant "host", but that's a great Freudian slip!

Count me in too! After checking out various frost/rabbit/deer damage, I actually logged in tonight to post about a secret trade since no one had yet and you beat me to it! How weird is that?! ESP or something.

Let us know your thoughts on details when you can!

I'm glad to see that you are interested!!! I will be your hosta :o ... host  with pleasure! I will post the informations and details about the secret trade later. I was just wondering about the deadline. Is it better on June 3th or June 10th?

What do you think?

Perhaps the later date, for people in the northern USA and in Canada? Hostas are all unfurled here in NJ, zone 7. Maybe someone from the colder areas will let us know if it is time yet!

Something to think about for ending dates...

The National Hosta Convention in St. Louis runs from June 10th/11th thru Sat the 14th. So some people may be gone during that time.
