Another Garden

I find myself staring at this garden more than any of the others that are finished. These pics were taken this past Wednesday evening I think.

The blues definitely stand out in this garden although I'm not sure quite as intensely as some of these pics would have you believe. The colors aren't too far off though, but I believe the cloudy evening light played a part as well.

I've been using a different camera with more megapixels that a friend had given to Sara to take on her Chicago trip this spring. I'm still getting used to using it. But not very well at times. Several of these are a little bit fuzzy, but I included them anyway.

Sherborne Swift is one that I got in the 1st year of addiction - 2002. It did fairly well farther back in this same garden, but I moved it to this spot in 2006 and it really took off & is a standout.

Silk Kimono is one of my favorites. Always makes my Top Ten list from own my garden after its 3rd year. It's a fast grower too.

That is awesome Ren, thank you for sharing your garden.
But one question, Creeping Charlie was seen in the photos. Isn't that as bad as Lilies of the Valley and smothering? I have it in one Canna spot and well the cannas fight it so I dug it out and potted it up.

Remember I'm still learning what can be planted in with my hostas, I put out corsica mint so it smells nice when it's walked on. Did I do that wrong too?

Karma - what you're seeing in the pics isn't creeping charlie. [Not in that bed anyway.] LOL This is golden moneywort. It spreads almost as easily as creeping charlie, but in my opinion it's much more desireable.

This does spread, but it's easily controlled. It's headed out into the lawn now, but that's OK. I'll get it out when I'm good & ready.

And you really don't even have to plant it - just lay it on top of the soil & it'll root if there's moisture. [Dave took a small piece when he was here. I told him to take more, but I think he was a little afraid of it since he saw it in so many places.] I have the dark green moneywort too, and I actually plan to use it as the 'grass' nearest this garden when I get the rest of this little lawn reseeded. [It was scraped bare after the waterline was put in last December.] Grass has never grown in this area worth a darn anyway.

Karma - I know nothing about corsican mint, but if it has 'mint' in the name, then I'd be afraid of it. I don't dislike herbs, but from my experience 'herb' is another way of saying 'grows & spreads as fast as a weed'. Once I thought I liked thyme [love the aroma] & had different varieties. One did especially well, and early this spring I pulled it out by the handful - and there were lots of handfuls.

I'm sure I could go back to the same spot today & pull out just as much.

I'm glad you're enjoying the pics.

Teaspoon is a fast grower, Claudia. This one was divided in 1/2 a couple of years ago when I reworked parts of this garden. You'd never know it now. I think it'll be easily as big as it was again this year. It's a neat little plant!!

Tami - Silk Kimono is one I wouldn't want to be without. You'll definitely enjoy it. I think it has a very elegant look.

Beautiful pics Reldon, I can see why you're drawn to that garden bed!

I know you're looking at the blues, but that Ophir is a knock out! How old is that one? Its going on the list. Thanks for sharing.

And I was going to ask about the ground cover (love the color) but you've already said it was golden moneywort. I've never seen this offered in a nursery, I'll have to really look for it.
