Thanks Ken...for posting pix of "Little Maddie".

She looked good next to your "Kenzie". Could you post a photo of your "Kenzie"? Maybe you have one before the dividing party.

We did our dividing in a wheel barrow, but it looks like a toilet would work. The guy writing the tags even had the blue gloves on :)

Mary in the video sure looked like she could of used a pair of those blue gloves, since she was the dunker of the hosta!

'Little Maddie' sure is a cutie! And what a great idea to carry tags with oneself...must start this habit!

"King Lizard" dividing was a fun time to watch loved the toilet part never would of thought of it!!! Just think if it's city water more then likely chlorinate. Nice looking hosta, too!!!

Thanks for posting the dividing video, Kim. Dr. Rod & Mary the Rinse Nurse. There were too many people watching it in hospitality the last nite. I couldn't get close enough to see what all was going on. Good to see you again as always. :P

Thanks, but...... those were all other designs in the different categories. I think there were 4 [maybe 5] different categories for arrangements.

Mary Ann did you get a pic of the one that had the flashing lights & the orange construction zone cone?? It was next to mine & I thought it was great!!

That video is too funny.

King Lizzard looks like a great plant. No information about on the HL, does anyone have any details on it?

Nice shot of the skyscraper, Mary Ann. :)

King Lizard - was that the one you guys spent the big bucks on?? I think Kimmie pulled Mary & then Rod into the buying cartel since the price kept going up. Hence the bathroom surgery.

I looked it up at the Registrar's online site.
Here's the link:
http://hostaregistrar.org/detail.asp?se ... g%20Lizard

It was a 1st time offering - never had a division anywhere outside of the originator's garden before. A highly desireable cross between 2 Olga plants [Niagara Falls x Grand Canyon]. Floyd Rogers is a member of the NIHS which hosted the convention.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the name must be Doors/Jim Morrison-related. Since I believe Morrison was often referred to as The Lizard King.
GO HAWKEYES!!!

Thanks for the info. I should have looked there before asking....

The cross does sound very interesting.

Rod was my first partner and THEN Mary....and neither Mary nor Rod knew about each other. Mary freaked when I bid $400, but I new that Rod was still in the deal and he was happy at what he thought was going to be $200 for his part of the deal. As it turns out, we all got a heafty chunk at $125 apiece and we sold the little division to Don Dean for $50.

Kim, great story!! :P Wish I had been there to see the whole thing unfold. You guys all made out, and gave a hefty donation to the society as well!
Well, now Lizard King will be in a few gardens, won't it?

We missed you Rox! Are you going to be able to make Michigan or Champaign-Urbana next year? If not, you'll have to come to MN for the National in 2010. By then, King Lizard might be able to make another appearance!

Marvelous Marlys shows her white edged sport of Red October, found in her own garden. It's a beauty!
The table shows some other competitors in the seedling and sport competition.
Bob Solberg's yellow plant took a blue ribbon.
Trudy's seedling from Big Daddy got a blue ribbon as did my tall blue one, a cross of Salute and Green Fountain.
My big tall blue seedling I have named Fontainebleau. (Jeroen, where are you?)
They did not do a people's choice award or a best of show in this category, which disapppointed a lot of us. Apparently an oversight in the planning.

On Right, the bright yellow with red scapes is Solberg's. My yellow is behind it, and the light did not adequately show the color off like it appears in the garden. <br />Left edge is my tall blue and Trudy's small cupped blue.
