Hail Damage
We had storms pass thru last night that produced hail and really made a mess of the hostas. The hardest hit was my plantaginea. It was so beautiful this year. This is year 3 for it, so it had really leapt. I was just about in tears over it! Thankfully my new ones Liberty and Queen of the Seas received only minor damage. AND June come thru like the trooper she is with no hail damage!! The couple of holes are bug holes.

Re: Hail Damage
Sorry to see those pictures! We had hail 2 days ago, but I didn't get out to walk the gardens until today, and yes, I noticed it to. But I had smaller hailstones than you, mine are little pierced holes, not so many of the big holes and rips that your pictures show!

Always hard to take seeing foliage shredded like that... Sorry.

Hi Renaldo,
You said your plantaginea was 3 years old. Didn't I send you one years ago? It came from my Grandma's farm & I thought I sent a chunk of it to just about everyone I traded with. Just wondering.

Re: Hail Damage
Hi Freaky - it is Nanny_56's plantagenia that's 3 yrs old. One of mine [5 actually] is what you sent me back in the fall of 2002. They're doing well. Thanks!!
Re: Hail Damage
Oh Claudia I'm sorry your 'Plantaginea' was so hard hit.

Re: Hail Damage
my sympathy... two of the last 5 years I too have had weed-whacker hostas...
but, of course, they recover so quickly... you can remove a few of the more unsightly damaged leaves and in a month or so the disappointment will fade...
good growing to you!
