I received my trade yesterday. My daughter is better trained than I thought. She had them out of the boxes and soaking in individual water bottles she'd cut the tops off of. [Guess she's seen that on the kitchen counter a time or 2.] Everything looked happy when I got home.

Jill/NewHostaAddict sent me 5 hostas. All new to me. They will be nice additions to my garden.

She sent a mix of 4 older varieties and one new. I think it's kinda cool to get some of the older ones that aren't grown so commonly anymore.

Gala - a selfed 'Tardiflora' seedling that sometimes is streaked & sometimes has a margin and or a streaky margin
Bold Ribbons - Mark Zilis says it's similar to Yellow Splash Rim & Neat Splash Rim - guess I'll find out since I have YSR
Crusader - have looked at this one in catalogs for years - similar to Gay Blade which is a favorite of mine
Sea Dream - I saw a very nice one in a MW convention tour garden & wondered where I might find this one
Golden Meadows - I'd just been admiring the ones in the post about GM recently - so nice to find a nice, big division among my trade hostas.

Thank you so much, Jill!! :) And thanks to Brian [in the Grand Canyon right now] for organizing this trade!! Great job!!

Hi ZZ
Glad you liked them, I was wondering what happened but I know you had your handsfull with what you were doing on "the other Site" I saw that you added them to your list, so I knew you got them. Glad they arrived in good shape it was very dry here so I was a little worried about how they would make the trip. We are catching up a little now. Enjoy your new additions and you are forgiven for the slip :D
Cheryl

I forgot to mention the little friend in the box. Cute little pot hanger. It was either a frog or a turtle. I'm in Ankeny now so I can't sneak a look and act like I know what it is for sure... But I know it was cute & it was green and I'm leaning more towards turtle. Thanks again for your generosity, Jill!! :D

Alright, alright, I am a bit tardy at posting a HUGE THANK YOU to ZZTopsoil (Lelan) for feeding my addiction to wavy, curly, music hosta. I loved the way the box was decorated (I'll attempt to post some pictures) but was more excited at the plants. It was soooo much fun to unwrap. It was almost like an excavation. I couldn't believe how many fit into that small box!!! They had a good drink of water, and I have potted up all of the plants.

Lelan sent the following 8 hosta performers for my garden :bd: :
Toy Soldier
Honeybells
Night Before Christmas
Summer Music
Bright Lights
Rhaphsody in Blue
Lakeside Rockytop
Jimmy Cracked Corn

I am sooooo greatful. I love them all, but I have a soft spot for Gershwin and John Denver (curse my mother for her influence) so I bet you can guess my two new favorites. I really appreciated the note too. Wonderful descriptions (and history) of the palnts and special care instructions.

Thanks so much.

My trip to the mailbox today yielded a nice big box! Inside it were:
Black Beauty, one that I searched for some time ago, bought one that turned out to be mislabeled, and then got Black Hills instead.
I'm so glad to finally have the right one!
Cupid...a delightful small streaked plant. I know nothing at all about it, except that it was love at first sight. :D
Gilt by Association, one that I have but I'm glad to have another. I'm going to put this one in some morning sun and see how it does there.
Kinba, a nice big healthy piece of one I've never seen before. I'll be watching for a spring show from this one, and also look forward to seeing
the blossoms.
To my secret trader, JJR, thanks a million...ya done good!
To gardenkid, thanks for hosting the trade.
I'm off to pot up my new plants!

Unfortunately I have not been able to find much on Cupid myself. I don't have much on it in my notes other than it was labeled as an os division when I bought it. It does set seed pretty easily, but my dogs got to the scape last year before I could get the seeds...

I'm a big fan of Kinba. Pretty fast grower, red pets, bright leaves....

I'm glad that you liked the hosta I sent. I'm really sorry that they were so late.

Enjoy,

Jon
