This is the garden of Art & Diann Thoma. Lots of nice plants in this garden with lots of potential for future growth. I thought it was neat that both the entryway arch & the trellis arch had the same high peak as the one on the house. The Thoma's had purchased the lot directly behind theirs and the back garden extended there as well. Their garage is on that back property.
The beginning pics in this album are not in the original order. I have a love/hate relationship with Photobucket, and this time it chose not to select all of the pics in the Thoma folder on my pc to upload at once. Even though that's what I had done. And I tried several times & unsuccessfully to move those pics to where I wanted them.
Nice pics on these posts Reldon. The gardens look so inviting, especially right now as I am listening to the wind howling and seeing the snow fly!
The first pic here on this set of photos is not a Magnolia, though it looks like it could be related. It is a Calycanthus floridus or Carolina Allspice. We have a really nice one here and sell quite a few when customers see them. Those red flowers smell like strawberries dipped in chocolate. (I kid you not!!!) They flower in May/June and we always get sporadic blooms through the rest of the season. If you ever see one for sale, I would highly recommend getting one for your garden.
Thank you for the correct ID, Lynn!! Very much appreciated. I'll make the name change in the album. I do recall that it was fragrant, but couldn't remember what it smelled like. I'd never seen anything like it before & from the looks of the blooms thought it must be some type of magnolia. I'll be on the lookout for one. Thanks again. Glad you're enjoying the tours.
