After another season is winding down, some plants definitely stick in my mind as favorites:

Kiwi Full Monty - never fails to make my top 10 list. The blue color holds well, and even now in August it looks distinctly different from Striptease
June Fever - I really like Devon Green, but when you plant it in combination with June Fever the two really "pop" Unique yellow color to this one
Earth Angel - Just about everything - great color, great size, excellent growth rate!
Guardian Angel - great up here in zone 5, but in warmer zones this one will turn solid blue too quickly. Still, it is a favorite here
Rainbow's End - I HAVE to get one of these in the display garden, but right now I've sold every last plant we had. :wow: Great substance, shine, color, scapes, and flowers!
Grand Slam - Would love to use this one in hybridizing
Lakeside Ripples - Beautiful upright, wavy leaves held horizontally. Terrific architectural plant
Cathedral Windows - Stained Glass used to be a favorite, but this one tops it
Lakeside Old Smokey - Piecrust edges, frosty blue, fantastic flowers, and a great grower
Lakeside Meadow Ice - This one shocked me...after 2 years thinking this was a dog, this year the leaves are thick, shiny, and feel like rubber. I might not be crazy about it in a couple more years, but for 2009 this was a nice surprise :D
Blue Mouse Ears - I'm thinking about using this one as a border plant because it is so cute and compact, and again, great flowers which always puts something higher on my list
Raspberry Sorbet - Again, nice and shiny dark green with one of the best flower displays
Journey's End - really growing on me, can't wait for it to get big. Piecrust edges are really starting to stand out on this one
Radiant Star - yes, I'm proud to have found this one. Maybe in a few more years it will be on other's favorite lists too ;)
Regal Splendor - A classic, still one of the best in my book
Liberty - WOW, my oldest plant is finally getting to be stunning!
Fantasy Island - another one that I want to use as a border plant. Great growth, color, and pretty pink scapes
Ventricosa Aureomarginata - Can't forget this beauty either, another great classic

I'm debating including Sum and Substance. I really like it, but I think I'm over it - others have grown bigger in the garden, like the Angels, and it just doesn't stand out to me as much. Sure, people ooh and ahh over it in the growing areas, but I just kind of gloss over it any longer...

Thanks for doing this list Tom :D

One problem with a list that was done in the middle of winter is that the next season some things come in that are really nice. I want to include two more:

First Frost
Dancing in the Rain
Ed McHugh, Sicklerville NJ
ImageMockingbird feeding juvenile yellow raisons - never leave home without them.

Hello! I'm new here, but I love talking hosta! This is only my 2nd year to really be interested in them, and I've acquired over 70 within the last 2 seasons. I've gotten so many great recs from reading forums like this and just by looking at what Hallson's has to offer.

Paul's Glory - This has just been beautiful from the beginning
Halcyon - Great blue & great substance
Stained Glass
Guacamole
Fragrant Bouquet- Love the color
Fried Bananas
Dream Weaver -Great substance, beautiful
June - Always on everyone's list
Francee - My first hosta I ever bought even years before I began collecting. Always looks great for me.
Katie Q -
Old Glory
Golden Meadows
Sagae
Rainforest Sunrise
Paradigm
Captain Kirk
Liberty
Touch of Class
Lakeside Shore Master- I just planted it this year, but it has looked great from the beginning_
Blue Mouse Ears - I have this one, but it has done very poorly. I want to try a new plant in the Spring to see if I can grow one that looks as great as I know it can.

Hey Queenie! Glad to run into you here!!! :D

My favs. this year are the following:

Jewel of the Nile
Earth Angel
Flemish Sky (new from Chris this year and already on this list)
Summer Breeze (love, love, love this one, very vigorous and showy in my garden)
Satisfaction
Celestial
Cutting Edge
Blaze of Glory
Paradigm
Majesty (very young--new this year but I already like it a lot--like my Liberty)
Pineapple Upside Down Cake (so far--it is also a new purchase this year--a HUGE pot full of it is very impressive!)

Hope I didn't list too many 'favs', or comment too much!

Sorry, know I am slow and thank you fotr the kick ... the ost in the hosta forum :D

Weird year and lots of them have lacked water due to my vacation and lack of knowing the soil

Here are a few newer ones who have done exeptional good

Emerald Ruff Cut... neglected and in a pot, but there are not a spot on this one..and a fast grower too
Jewl of the Nile, looked terrible in spring, but a few good waterings and it is a beauty with the uneven coloration
Designer Genes .. WOW
Lullaby.. great spring color and good grower
Marakesh..such a beauty and a good grower too
Manhattan- rather slow but love the vertical grow habit
Cathedral Windows.. normally I am not in for yellow and glossy... but this one glows
Potomac Pride.. took it some years to show off, but worth the wait
Fire and Ice.. this one gave me problems for years... Hank had it in a lot of sun and after I mowed mine.. it is such a good little cutie, with good balance between leafs and flowers
Satisfaction.. fast and good
Lakeside Surf Rider.. lovely edges and good grower
Blue Arrow.. elegant
tortifrons... just love my hosta grass
Kiwi Full Monthy..
June
BME
Regal Splendor and more are oldies but goodies
Pia.. who may add more one day
