Here's another one that should open tomorrow. Never seen it flower before. The scape has an interesting color.

That is an interesting color scape. I think Jeff White posted one with very similar color on facebook. It's almost looks translucent.
Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
A couple opened today.

Art used Katsuragawa Beni among others in his "red" breeding program. This is a flower from one of the seedlings.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
This is the last scape to open flowers. It's the same flower as one posted earlier with light colored anthers.
This next one has been in flower for a few days. I missed posting it before. Another interesting flower with color along the edge.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
I just noticed something odd. On the last flower I put up I said I hadn't posted it before - I was wrong. I posted one on the 12th but it is very different from the second one which is why I thought I hadn't posted it before. Here they are side-by-side - the left is from September 12 while the right is from September 19.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
What I have posted before were mostly untagged seedlings that Art had. He also gave me a small 4-pack labeled Miss Angie seedlings. I don't know what Miss Angie was but it was a "yellow". I don't think I have written much about these seedlings here - just the biggest one with the darkest petioles that I took to Cedar Rapids last year (gave it a name this season Miss Shamim).
They are a mix of different looking plants - nothing special and the flowers haven't been unusual yet. One of the plants flowered for the first time. It has the thinnest leaves of the group and the scape is remarkably thin. Here is the plant. (I think that's "Miss Miranda" on the right - another Miss Angie seedling [Q2-A])

Another flower from the Miss Angie seedling above. I just noticed that the middle stripe on the sepal is faint (12 o'clock position) and doesn't extend down like the other stripes leaving a white gap where a stripe should be.
Another Miss Angie seedling that never flowered before. This plant is "frosted" on the top and bottom of the leaf. With a very tall upright scape:

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
I have given the Miss Angie Q1-A a garden name - Miss Selene. The plant itself is nothing special but the flower is interesting. (The "Miss" part is because it's one of Art Wrede's seedlings and he used the "Miss" a lot, as in Miss Ruby and Miss Grace.)

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
This one had the tallest scapes last season. I showed it matched next to the one with the dark edge spots but the dark edge spotted one is not flowering this season unless it's really late.
With some color in the pedicel and bract.
And color and frost on the scape.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
I'm glad you have been taking and posting pictures of these flowers. It encourages me to get out and take some photos of these later flowers. Red October is just about to bloom, maybe before August is over.
Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
Thanks Carol.
This one has flowered for the first time. It's a yellow seedling of Smokey. Art had a few of these - Jeff Moore has one he named Miss Alicia for his youngest daughter.
It's always fun when "spots" show up.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
Some recent flower photos.
These first three I got from Art last year. They were unmarked seedlings. These next two I got from Art in 2012. This is the first time I saw them flower. I thought they were Otter Point until the flowers opened and there was no center markings.

Another seedling from 2014.
I showed these last season. This is a flower from Mr Jack - one of Art's named plants.
The next two were labeled Hosoba Iwa. I think they are seedlings of a Hosoba Iwa cross.I showed these last season. This is a flower from Mr Jack - one of Art's named plants.

Some of the #102 plant flowers are starting to open.
A trough with #102 dark on the left and #102 light in the center and Lady in Red on the right. #102 dark colored flower: #102 light colored flower: When I first saw the scapes I thought there weren't any branches on the scapes but this morning I found a couple on the dark colored one. Edit - This plant was given to name Dark Branching Treasure 2/2016 because it has dark green leaves as well as dark branching scapes and it has One Man's Treasure as its pollen parent.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
This is a "new" one I have never seen flower before. This is the second season in my garden. I got it from Roger Smith who got it from Art's collection. The plant isn't much to look at - just plain green with white backed leaves and some color on the petiole. The flower shows some color along the edge just before the transparent edge.
Another "new" one just starting up with nearly white scapes:

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
This one opened for the first time today. I had it labeled as Miss Ruby because of the foliage but the flower is wrong. So I'm guessing it's a seedling from Miss Ruby. I also have one I showed last season with a similar color pattern and it looked like Miss Ruby also - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57978#p495333
I'm hoping later flowers will have more "spots" along the edge so I can give it a garden-name similar to last year's similar one and track them as they mature.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
I had forgotten about the "odd" color on this one. I noticed it in 2013 and got some good photos today. The flower has a green tint on the edge. The label is Hosoba Iwa - it may be a seedling.
I have the plant growing in the ground and in too much sun. It needs to be moved out of harms way - there is chipmunk activity in that garden.Ed McHugh, Sicklerville NJ

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
A second flower opened on the plant two frames up. It has more edge color.
A second "new" plant opened its first flower and it has a similar color pattern. Anthers are a little darker.

Interestingly the scapes are taking on color as they develop.
