A small inexpensive hosta with bright yellow ruffled leaves with a green margin.

Looks great in the late day sun.

Fair warning: Kabitan is lovely, and grows almost like a weed, but it is probably Top Ten on the "Slug Magnet" list! Almost tempts me to pick some young leaves and try them in a salad myself.

The Krumholz garden on last year's convention tour had the most incredible swath of Kabitan. Yup, this is all Kabitan!

Following up on what Tigger said, Kabitan is the worst slug magnet in my collection. The slugs seem willing to rush right past the slug bait to get to the plants.

Beautiful plant wzbt03...I don't know what it is, but I have no luck with Kabitan, I'm on my third attempt to grow one. If this one fails, I'm calling it quits.

Tigger that's a wonderful looking garden, I'm in a stupor too (don't want you to feel lonely Charla

) I'm hoping my garden will look like that when it grows up. Sigh, probably not.

The one above is pic #2; pic #4 shows a different border of hakone grass for comparison.

Inta is an absolute wizard at pruning trees. She has the most incredible specimen of 'Wolf Eyes' cornus kousa that I've ever seen (not shown in these pics). On the other hand, four variegated pagoda dogwoods might be too much of a good thing (e.g. pics 5–8).

I was just looking at H. 'First Mate', newly added to a wholesale catalog. It is described as a tetraploid sport of Kabitan with improved vigor, more pronounced variegation, and a more upright habit.

Sounds good to me... but I'll wait until next year as this year's offering is a little immature and the prices should come down some for next year. Could be the increased substance will help with the slug problem...
