Leading Lady

Post by wzbt03 »

This leaf is just shy of 12 inches from end to end.
I was hoping this one would form a few more eyes this year but the leaf is a lot bigger.

I believe the leaf size on this one is about 14 * 10.

This one sits in full sun from about 10 to 4. Does not seem to mind.

How old

This is the third year and the clump just has not taken off - maybe I do need a new location for this one but the leaves are getting huge so who know.

I'd probly leave it in the same spot another year just to make sure. I've got one that gets a lot of afternoon sun too - probly 12 to 4 or 5 - but I don't think its leaves are nearly as large as yours. Got it in 2004 & it went into the ground that fall. I'll have to take a closer look tomorrow.

Another nice plant on display at a meeting of the Delaware Valley Hosta Society, that was held in a member's garden, Leading Lady. There were 4 of them and I can't believe I didn't get a close-up of the fourth one. Of well, here are three in a grouping along the top of the photo.

Amazing how some repetition made these the, well, leading ladies of a busy garden.
