Nice, funny, special

One day when i find the time to open up the old PC - I will find out if I ordered it or not... It was on my wish list.. with ghosts and devils.. but I can't find it in the garden :-? :-?

Pia - maybe the ghosts spirited it away..... :o

I had that happen with Alleghan Fog - I bought it, I watered it in its pot [with all the rest] all summer, but when it came time to plant it in the fall, it was nowhere to be found. Either it sprouted legs & wandered off or it was a sacrificial hosta for the fire gods. :???:

Lucy - you're wrong. You think every hosta with misted variegation or something different than the norm is virused. :???:

This is my Ghost Spirit, do you think mine will change or was it miss marked when I bought it? It is two years old.
Reldon sure like yours, any ideas on mine.
Thanks,
Sue

I love my Ghost Spirit. I just got it late last year from Rob Mortko. It is planted in the front of a bed and has doubled in size. It has also held that "frosted" look for a long time. It has put up 2 flower scapes already. I think it is really beautiful!

Sue - That hosta doesn't look like the Ghost Spirits I have seen...has it gone thru it's frosted stage yet?

Charla,
I have not seen it misted yet this year, can't remember last year. I will keep an eye on it and now I have something to compare to. Be it right or wrong hosta.
Thanks,
Sue

I'm not sure what to tell you, Sue. I don't remember mine looking this misted in the past either, but it could have been & because the plant didn't look especially impressive I just didn't pay much attention to it. There are so many that have that white center, twisted look anymore that it's hard to say what it is if it's not Ghost Spirit. Maybe someone else will have some ideas.

I'm pretty sure mine up and died. :( Your GS is beautiful, Ren. I'm thinking I need to get another one and then plant it in a different location. Where is yours planted and how much sun does it get? Mine was in a very shady area.

Joan - this one is in the holding bed that gets 3-4 or 5 hours of afternoon sun. Just depends on the time of year & how much shade it gets from the house, other hostas & trees to the west.

Sue, mine looked like that for the first couple of years. I knew I had the right plant. The person who gave it to me told me that his looked that way the first couple of years, too, and then got the misting. Here's a pic of mine in 05, the third year in my garden. You can see that some of it is misted, and some looks more like yours. I'll have to get out and see how it looks this year. It was just coming up the last time I went past that bed.

Linda,
Thanks for your words of wisdom, I was hoping that mine was also Ghost Spirit. Hosta's can look so different until they really have matured. So I will keep watching it. Hoping that it gets that misted look real soon.

I think the first picture in the Hosta Library is the original
plant at Moongate Farm. I saw it before it was released for sale. 8-) Renaldos plant looks like the original Ghost Spirit. :) It must grow faster here in the South..zone 7. :D

Im not sure if maturity has much to do with the misting...I got mine last year - spring - as a 2nd year TC. It had the misting. This year it looks like Renaldo's. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. Meant to do that today, but too much to do before the rain comes in tonight....

I don't get this hosta. In the pictures, it looks like....dare I say it....? It looks like  the green and white one.

I must be wrong! How to know for sure? Maybe I need to grow it myself!

Different strokes, bengal... :???: In person it looks really  with the streaky/misted centers. And it looks a little bit more on the blue side than these pics are showing. I need to get a pic of it before the sun is starting to shine on that bed. At any rate, I like all the ones that are a bit on the different side - like me.
