Chinese Sunrise 2007 05 13

Post by digs57 »

Apart from Lancifolia, which serves as breakfast salad for the wild rabbits around here, Chinese Sunrise is my very earliest spring riser. I got it as a single eye in 2004, and in subsequent years it increased to 2, then 5, and now 12 eyes, so it's not only a cheery sight but a nice grower, too.

Last year it looked very pretty mid-season with a variegated ajuga next to it, but that one hasn't reappeared this year. I'm thinking a bright red primrose might be just the thing instead.

Nice one, digs. :P Be prepared for it to get much bigger though. I got one from Wanda back in 2002 - just a few divisions - and in a few years was close to 100 if I remember right.
