'Crowned Imperial' pic anyone?

Post by wishiwere »

I have what is supposed to be a 'Crowned Imperial' and I'm thinking it looks more like a 'Regal Splendor' than the pictures in the Hosta Library! Does anyone have a picture of theirs that they could share?

Pretty please?

I did manage to find a couple pics. Two were taken when my CI was in pots when I first got it, but one was taken a couple years ago, so here it is. Hope it helps.

Thanks Joan. I thought perhaps the ones on the library were just too young to show their real selves, but apparently mine is NOT what I bought a few years back. ! It's not the first one I'm finding is wrong from back then. All were on the same buying trip :(

I had Crowned Imperial until crown rot & tree roots did it in last year. It had always done well for me til then. It's very similar to Francee since they both sported from Fortunei Hyacinthina. My Crowned Imperial always did better than my Francees for some reason. :???:

Crowned Imperial leaves appears to be more "droopy" overall ... Francee tends to look more upright ... of course a lot depends on when Francee was last watered.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Francee's leaves always seem to be pointing more upward. :)

Same for my Francee too. Seems to have a more upright appearance.

 Well upright is correct for my Francee unless she needs watered, then she looks just like Crowned Imperial :o I am just going to leave this kind of stuff to you experts and quietly watch :D
