Is this Ventricosa Aureomarginata?

Post by hubble »

Or, could it be Twilight? I found a lable that says Twilight, but I'm not convinced. I've had it for 4 years, 3 years in its current spot. It is a slow multiplier, but the leaves and stalks get more robust as the years go by. It looks closest to Hank's pic of v. Aureo in the Hosta Library than any other plant.

The immature plant had much more white in the leaves than do the mature ones. The margins are yellow in the spring, turning creamy white. I love the purple striped bell shaped flowers and twist of the leaves. It is a definately falls into the 20 or 30 foot rule. It really stands out in the garden.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Finally, I "get" what a "bell-shaped" flower is, thanks so much for posting the pictures!
