Pic of the Day--Pizzazz
Hi All--Pizzazz is a very attractive, solid performing variety. It has nice blue center coloring and has little slug damage, remarkable considering it is growing next to a slug magnet, Invincible. The only problem I have had with Pizzazz is that its edges may look a bit tattered late in the season. I got it in 1994 and have it growing in a spot that gets up to about 4 hours of afternoon sun in mid summer. Over a five year period it's measurements were 55x29, 55x26, 47x24, 49x24 and 52x27. Zilis lists it at 48x21.

Pizzazz is one of my favorites - always in my top 20 favorites in my garden every year it seems like. Great coloring & texture!! I have 2 - 2nd one was my freebie in a Hallson order. Neither has gotten as large as Hank's, but I've never had the tattered edges problem - didn't realize it was a problem actually. The larger of mine gets only filtered/dappled midday sun. The other might get a little bit of direct & filtered midday sun. They still look good late into the season. Only problem with the one this year was that the 1st cutworms discovered it.
Pizzazz
This is one of two Pizzazz in the gardens. The artistic intent was to have the miniature geranium (can't remember the name of it) grow up through the plant.
It worked out rather well.
A bird or two have added their own brushstrokes to it.

Re: Pic of the Day--Pizzazz
Since Chris mentioned this one in another post so I thought I would update it with one I got last season.

I had one that I thought would really do well in Texas. It grew well and made a great clump the first year. But, it didn't come back.

Pizzazz today - it's planted in a wire basket to keep the critters away.

Since Pizzazz was mentioned on an "help ID" topic I thought I would update it.
Here it is in the group setting with Tiara types up-front and Pizzazz behind surrounded by azaleas. (The two bigger Tiaras up-front just came in from Chris - Diamond Tiara and Diamonds Are Forever.)

Re: Pic of the Day--Pizzazz
Is Pizzazz one of those picky hosta? I had one a couple of years ago that grew beautifully the year I acquired it at a local big box store. I thought I had found a real star for Texas in a pot. It just didn't come back, though. Someone said at the time that it regularly commits suicide. Is that anyone's experience, besides mine?
