Lakeside Mom for justaysam

Post by Linda P »

Here's a pic of my Lakeside Mom today. Linda (justaysam) pointed out to me on Saturday that there was a streaked pod setting. I didn't go over to look at it until later. Today I found a few more pods setting. These are OP...I'm just not up for hybridizing yet. Maybe one of these years.

That looks real familiar, Linda. I think we were looking at it not too long before I left Saturday. I hope you get some nice seedlings from your OP pods. :)

If you decide to plant those seed, you will have streaked babies for sure! If you look close at that stem, it is nicely streaked 8-) , almost a sure bet to getting streaked seedlings!

I also took a pic of the pods, but it's kind of hard to see them. They're all streaky so far.
This is the first year this one has bloomed for me, so it's kind of exciting to watch it.
I had some streaky pods on my Iron Gate Delight a few years ago, and got some streaked seedlings from it. I had a bunch of nicely streaked pods on Christmas Tree Gala last year, but never quite got around to starting seeds. Next winter I'll be ready!

I can only imagin what you will get with all those possibilities out there! It should be exciting, every pod could produce a different looking seedling. Have fun!

Oh Linda, I'm afraid your gonna have way too many seed to deal with all by your self!!!! You may need to recruit some help from all your fellow hosta lovers here that don't have any streakers!!
