Hi All--Not all hosta varieties need to be eye-grabbing spectacular. We also need those that serve their purpose by being in the background, providing a backdrop for the other, showier, garden plants. I think that is the main job of Hyacinthina. While it is attractive enough in its own right, the variety's most interesting characteristic is its tendency to produce sports. It is the parent of a long list of variegated offspring. A sport can be seen in this photo, taken in 2005. Hyacinthina is a steady grower with an expected mature size of about 55x23. It has good resistance to slug.

See, another reason I like your POTD's! I have one that was 'supposed' to be Hyacinthina, and is not even close. Hate when that happens!
But it's nice to have yours to be sure mine IS NOT one!
