I know.........
I know that Hyacinthina has a habit of putting off streaking sports, but they are not usually stable. But how about Francee and Allan P. McConnell? Both of mine have some streaking. Francee has one big eye and two small eyes and APM has one small eye.

Hi Hostalady
To answer your question and try to not write a book ,
Simply put, Hyacinthina is a Fortunei Hosta. It was once thought to be a species, (Fortunei) but Schmidt reduced it to cultivator status in 1991. This is a large group of plants, all sharing similar characteristics.....
Med to Large mound size, average to good substance, leaves 9-10" x 6-7" wide, 9-10 vein pairs, better than average sun tolerance, fast growth rate, limited seed pod formation, and few viable seeds if pods do form. Flowering mid July into August, pale lavender flowers.
Here's a sampling of some fortunei Hostas, I am not naming them all... and Yes they are known to sport streaked divisions from time to time:
Antioch
Captain Kirk
Gold Standard
Patriot
Francee
Twighlight
if you look at a sports tree of all the sports from Fortunei Hyacinthina alone it will be quite clear to you how all these plants are related.
Allan P. McConnell is not a Fortunei Hosta, though.
Hostas are unstable plants. That is why there's so many sports!

Thanks alot Roxanne, that helps!! I know hosta are unstable, and I guess that's what makes them so much fun for me......just waiting to see how much they can change.
I'm gonna see if I can get DH to figure out how to post a pic of Allan P. McConnell. You should see it, it's beautiful.

APMC sport
Yes, Ann, please post your picture of Allan P Mc Connell sport. I am very interested in seeing it. I too, have a sport of sorts from APMC that I have been babying along for a couple years now. It nearly died this spring so it is just about back to square one.
Thanx,
MM
