Hi All--Citation has been in our garden since 2001, growing in a spot that gets dappled light, at best. It has done grown well under those conditions but its lack of good substance has resulted in damaged edges in some years. It is one of those varieties that provides a welcome spot of brightness in a shaded area. Citation is yet another variety that has a variety of listed mature sizes. Lemke lists it at 14x8, Wade & Gatton and the Hosta Library say 30x22 and Zilis lists it at 38x17. All of the photos in the Library seem to be showing smaller sized plants. Our plant has measured 17x8, 22x12, 25x10, 26x11, 27x11, 23x12 and 31x11. As is too often the case, with hosta collecting, you pays your money and you takes your chances. Citation benefits from slug protection.
