Pic of the Day--Clifford's Comet

Post by Hank Zumach »

Hi All--As I mentioned in yesterday's posting, today's plant is a John Clifford introduction of a Loyalist sport. Clifford's Comet is very similar to yesterday's Clifford's Stingray except it has heavily speckled center variegation and a larger expected mature size. Growing next to its sport relative in our Friendship Garden, Clifford's Comet measured 10x9 in 2006 and 17x8 this past summer. It should be about 24x12 at maturity.

I love this plant. It is two years old here, and has grown well and love its substance. I am embarrassed to say I bought it at Walmart last year for $3.99 ... Not even end of season, but they had that one and C's Stingray, and Fire and Ice and they all looked terrific! I got one of each...no problems with them so far.
