Seedlings in the "vault" and around the yard
Three hosta from my friend Olga. The original 'Viva Las Vegas' in the center with 2 unnamed seedlings on each side. Viva wants to be green! It'll take some work to keep her variegated.
Seedlings in the vault. The small ones are my new ones.
My favorite (((Dorothy Benedict x m. macrophylla) x Niagara Falls) x Sea Dragon) x Open) and my favorite breeder.
Another of the same cross:
Seedlings from 2005
Some interesting open-pollinated F2 seedlings of 'Hatsushimo'. I'm going to try and use these this year as pod parents.
An interesting seedling of a streaked 'Gold Standard' F2 seedling.
The most uniform streaking I have. Niagara Falls is the bulk of the genes.
More in the vault.
'Fragrant Blue' x 'Maekawa'
(((Dorothy Benedict x m. macrophylla) x Niagara Falls) x Sea Dragon) x Open) again
(((Dorothy Benedict x m. macrophylla) x Niagara Falls) x Sea Dragon) x Open) again
Mainly 2005 seedlings.
Planting them in the yard
Unnamed
'Dorothy Benedict' x 'Elatior' x Open
Voodoo's are about to bloom
Unnamed
Thanks for looking!

That's one AMAZING bunch of seedlings in the vault!!
I have a question about the 12th pic. There is another seedling to the left behind the seedling from the cross you're showing. Huge leaf with a lighter center & a dark green margin. Looks like it's stabilized already with a nice upright form. I was curious about its parentage. Thanks.
I sure wish I had someplace for a bunch of seedlings like you have... Hosta Vault Envy.

This should inspire anyone to be a hybridizer. You get stuff that you just can't buy.
The Maekawa or hypoleuca gives the offspring that floppy big leaf look most of the time, it is really odd compared to most hostas. I have a bunch like that, but most are so floppy that they don't look good in the garden. Those would be the ones to plant in a ravine on rock and moss walls. Now I just need to get a ravine.

Sigh, I am in awe.
Okay, I'm going to show my ignorance...How do you keep track of all the plants' parentage and remember what's what? Also, in the 9th picture on the bottom left hand corner is a beautiful golden ruffled floppy leafed hosta that caught my eye as different from most others you have. Is that related to the surrounding hostas and just isn't streaked?
