mystery hosta

Post by Quiet Storm »

A friend gave me this hosta last year, and she couldn't remember its name, except that she thought the name had the word orange in it. The only hosta I've found with orange in its name is Orange Marmalade, and I don't think this is it. Anyone have an idea what this might be? The margins are a deep shade of yellow, which doesn't come through well in this photo. It has a very flat habit, and is not very big (about 10 inches across).

Thanks.

Pretty sure that's Mack the Knife. It does have very yellow orange margins and mine looks very similar to your photo.

Thanks a million Libby. That sounds familiar, now that you mention it.

Hi,

It could be Mack the Knife, but mine don't have such shiny leaves. Were the leaves wet when you took the picture?

Hi Chris,

Yes, the leaves were wet when I took the picture. I had just watered when I remembered that I wanted to take a picture to post for identification.
