H. Cream Cheese is Sporting!

Post by hostanquilts »

While I was taking a picture of H. Little Wonder, I noticed that H. Cream Cheese is sporting a couple leaves. It looks rather neat.

Hey Jan!

Great looking leaves, I hope it continues on that way!

Also, would you mind posting a photo of your Little Wonder along with current size dimensions?

I have 2 Little Wonders that are different sizes and I am trying to figure out which one is correct.

Thanks

Alexa,
I posted the picture of my H. Little Wonder in your thread about Little Wonder. The clump has spred, so it's not evenly distributed. The narrow part measures about 12" & the long part is about 16" & it about 4 1/2" high. I didn't measure a leaf.

Jan, it's resembling the wildly popular Stitch n Time. Are you going to divide it off?

I sure hope it continues with that coloring, it is really eye candy.

That really is striking, but I have to ask if this is a separate eye or a new flush of foliage coming from an existing eye? If those older leaves are normal and the new flush is wide margined then this might just be a one time occurrence and not an actual sport.

Occasionally hostas will have a very wide margined flush of foliage in the summer, usually after a heavy rain or a good watering, just to tease us I think ;) But if this is a totally separate eye then I have to agree it is beautiful :)

I agree Chris, I'm just going to watch it & see if it develops its own division or is just eye candy. It is pretty though. I went to the Hosta Library & looked up Cream Cheese & it said it was a sport of Crepe Suzette & CS is colored similar to those leaves, so probably just a fluke, but thought it was pretty anyway & thought that I would share. Who knows, maybe it'll develop it's on eye & then it may just be a 1 time thing.
