Deja Blu sport
Last year I received a number of plants as part of a secret trade, and one of those, 'Deja Blu' to be precise, sported a new, unique division this year. Near as I can tell no-one else has reported a DJ sport, so this is all very exciting. Here's keeping my fingers crossed it will be bigger and better next season!
It's too early to contemplate a name for it as yet.... perhaps next year....

Hi Pieter,
Is the margin more green on your sport? I'd be interested in seeing it next to Deja Blu so we can see the differences between the two.

That's pretty. I hope it stabilizes for you. And I'll watch mine carefully too.

Chris, I'll post a picture later tonight of what it looked like before I took the division. Yes, there is none of the cream/white edge on this compared to the original, it's like you see, a green margin with a blue center.

This picture was shot August 23rd, a little more than 2 weeks before I made the division. If you look carefully you can see the third leaf on the sport has just begun to show and hasn't fully unfurled as yet.

Re: Deja Blu sport
So, I've been contemplating a name for this sport -perhaps somewhat premature, don't you think- and I must admit to a preference for a name that takes its heritage/lineage into account. The name 'Deja Blu' is a clever play of words on 'deja vu' and since this sport is bluer than the parent plant 'Deja Blewer' pays homage to the play on words heritage, with a new twist.
Waddaya think?

Re: Deja Blu sport
Hi Pieter,
I would wait on naming it until you are sure that it is really different from Deja Blu. It might be possible that this was simply a new eye coming up, since Deja Blu emerges with a greenish margin that lightens as the season progresses. I like to give them at least a couple years before naming (or even longer). I've even had sports that I later lost so I'm glad I hadn't named/registered them too soon.

Re: Deja Blu sport
Chris, I'd have to go through all my pictures to confirm, but it seems to me this new offset has had this green margin since it first appeared in I believe it was June. I would've thought that if the margin was going to lighten up it would have done so by now (first picture is only about a week old) so I'm encouraged and look forward to next season. I would consider the name a 'working' name only, just like I refer to all-green sports of 'Revolution' as 'Green Revolution'.
As I said, I may be premature with it, and I appreciate your note of caution, but, waddayathinkofit?
