Hosta Fest

Post by Linda P »

Hosta Fest is coming up soon, Sunday, June 7 at the Dubuque Arboretum, 3125 W 32nd Street, Dubuque Iowa.
If you live anywhere within driving distance, come on out for some hosta fun.
The festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. with time to walk through the AHS display gardens at the arboretum.
There will be a hosta sale in the pavilion at noon.
Lunch is available for a nominal charge.
This year's speaker is Josh Spece, and he will present his talk on what's new in the hosta world at 1:00 p.m.
Immediately following Josh's talk, there will be a hosta auction.
Closing out the day will be a door prize drawing.
Hope to see some of you there!

Hi Linda, I sure am going to try and get there this year. Last year I was ready to go and we had terrible thunderstorms that morning, so I didn't want to get caught in a downpour. I have been caught before and its not fun at all to be stopped on an Interstate highway because you cannot see do to the downpour. It will be nice to hear Josh speak, he seems so knowledgeable on the forum. I am always eager to learn more about hosta's.
Thanks for posting this and hope to see you again.
Take Care

Hey, Sue, sure hope you can make it. We went last year, drove in blinding rainstorms all the way there (a 2-hour drive for me) but then I was going to help set up.
We had a good turnout anyway, even though we were on the verge of cancelling due to the weather. Do not blame you one bit for staying where it's safe!
Hopefully the weather will co-operate this year.

This is not good news!!! It's my weekend to work.
I just gotta get to retirement age real soon.
I'll see if someone will take pity on me and trade work shifts with me.
I want in on that auction and the door prizes!!!
Whoops! I forgot my garden is overly crowded all ready.
Actually I just want to see all my hosta friends.
Josh is saving a new Zilis book for me and H 'Candy Dish'. I gotta pick them up some time. Probably the midwest convention now. I missed the open house at Josh's. I wanted Ron to take me for Mother's Day.
I'm pouting!!
Hopefully I can make the Hallson Reunion @ Roxanne's in July. I think Linda P told me it is the 18th.

Marlys! Could you maybe just happen to be "sick" that weekend? This definitely qualifies as an illness, wanting more plants when you don't have room for the ones you already have.
Renaldo, I hope you can make it! It's always a fun time.

I agree with Linda, Marlys...this is definitely an illness! The Fest qualifies as treatment, doesn't it??

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

Wow...Hosta Fest is coming up fast! Can't wait to see some old friends! The event goes on rain or shine, under the pavilion.
The forecast is calling for some sun and a chance of showers. We stayed high and dry last year with something like 3 inches
of rain falling during the day on Dubuque.
