Thanks for the photo's.....hadn't thought too much about the great north. Must be hard to wait looking at all the photo's from the southerners. I don't think I could do it.

Your seedling looks very cool, can't wait to see it open up fully. Hopefully it won't be too long.

I have the last one coming up this week, an on stage. The one in the front is all unfurled but the one in the side garden is taking it's time. I thought for a while spring would never come. And it is tough looking at pictures of unfurled hostas when all you see are plant markers Now if it would only rain...........

May be slow coming up but you Northerners have bigger hosta, and they don't get burned up like ours down south. A fair trade I think When we are all lamenting about burned up hosta, you will be posting pictures of beautiful huge hosta and making us drool

I'm in the Minneapolis area, and On Stage is always the last to show. Here she is this morning. Well, here is about 2/3 of her. I must be doing something wrong.

Brian, I don't think I could stand it! Ginger does have a point, though. For the most part, I think my neck of the woods is just about right. The hostas are usually up by the middle of May, though this year they were early, and usually hold up pretty well through the summer.
I wish I could send some of our rain up your way. Seems like it's gotten on a track that hits us every few days.
Just south of us, the farmers haven't been able to get in the fields yet, and they just got more rain yesterday and today. It's just not fair, that we're getting more than we need, and you're not getting rain at all.

Yup, Lois... we get to complain about how late our gardens are - until we hear from the real up-Northers like grandnnkd. I know my patience would be tried beyond tolerance... Zone 4 is looking pretty good right now, except for the agressive mosquitos that showed up yesterday...

One of my On Stage is unfurled, like yours - but my other one, on the North side of the house is up 6-8 inches but not yet unfurled - always an interesting comparison as it is right next to a Montana Auremarginata that is magnificent... I point out to visitors that OS is a sport of MA, yet they have diverged to be basically the first up and last up in my gardens...

I know it's bad up here, but I get to be zone 4 too, because I am spitting distance from the big lake. That said, it just means that we don't get as cold (below zero)which is what hardiness measures, but we don't warm up very quickly. I can't tell you how many times I drive about another mile from my house and the temperature increases 15 to 30 degrees!

That said, I wouldn't trade it (except for lots of fresh tomatoes).....we only have a few 80 degree days. Most of summer is 65 to 75.

Your's will grow really quickly from now on with all those hours of daylight you are getting. I bet my next week they'll be all leafed out. Some of mine were still just unfurling last week, but they' are looking good now.

The blue behind Striptease is Big Momma, next to Striptease is Stained Glass and behind it is Bill Birnika behind this is Neat Splash and in the Tomato Cage is LS Ringmaster (from the Spring Trade). In front of t-bolt is Xanadu, behind it is Silk Kimono and it the other tomato cage is LS Surf Rider (again from the Spring Trade). Next to Xanadu is Obsession and Next to T-Bolt is Jade Cascade.

Wow all that from memory!!

So do you live on the north tip of the half island or in the middle of it... sea/lake effect or ...?
Or am I so used to think sea effect as Gulf Stream effect
Living up north of you, my weather is way different, noses are up at the same time as the southern US, but then due to our cold nights mostly just stand there for more than a month..driving me nuts
The spring was warm here as opposide to the general US
