Re: Can anyone ID this guy
Hi Ed,
It reminds me a little of a young Captain Kirk. Lots of plants with this color pattern, though, so might be tough until it grows up more.
Have a good Thanksgiving!

I was thinking maybe Paul's Glory. It was labeled Northern Exposure.
You have a good Thanksgiving also.

Or maybe 'Old Glory'?
Re: Can anyone ID this guy
Hi Josh,
Looking at some shots in the hosta library, it does look similar. I'll have to wait and see what it does when it gets older.
Thanks.

Whatever it is, nice plant!
Looks like it has nematodes though.

Hi Ed,
The original little plant reminded me of Captain Kirk and I'm still leaning towards Captain Kirk again in this picture. The newer growth looks a bit like Paul's Glory but that parchment center and wide dark green border look more like Captain Kirk to me.

I have a PG with white parchment leaves but they are the newer leaves where this has it on the oldest leaves. I'm going to go with Captain Kirk. Thanks Chris.

I think it is captain kirk too. it looks like the snails have gotten the leaves Most of mine this year have been eaten I need coffee grinds for next year. that helps keeps the critters awawy.I didn't have too much time this year to look after my garden.Next year though.

Here it is this season - I think it's Captain Kirk also. Totally different look as it matures with the rounded leaves.

Re: Can anyone ID this guy
It is so weird how much the location can do.
First pic I remeber cleraly.. no way it can be Captain Kirk, it is not gloosy at all
Next year - Captain Kirk - no way, it is not pacement and even for a young plnt the leaves seem too narrow
Now.. it is way to green in the center for a Captain Kirk, but the look at the plant could be...
Mine have allways come up, with a yellow with some green center and with in few days, the center have been yellow and kept that color all summer
Darn hard to describe a hosta sometimes

That one is in shade nearly all day this time of year. Here's another plant that I know is a Captain Kirk and it's in a brighter area.
