That is an excellent tutorial about how to ship hostas.

BUT, there is one item I do differently: NO shredded newspaper---

After the hosta is prepared for shipping, I roll it up in a double sheet of newspaper. This will then fit neatly into the Priority Mail Box, bending ends of the newspaper roll if need be--- they're not going anywhere, especially if you fill the box nicely. You can add one crumbled sheet of newspaper if filler is needed at the top.

I always appreciate my trader's gift of hostas, but prefer not to deal with shredded newspaper or peanuts, given the choice!

I agree about the peanuts, but I will put the shredded newspaper in my compost so it is not a problem for me
Can't wait for the fun to begin

I wish I could join you

Please new ones, this is all for fun and perfect for new to hostas.
Do not let a members long list scare you, just send one hosta, ( Chris can help if needed.. .. bye one and split it) and then add some candles, a cute or fun garden thing or a handgcrafted thing or a plant.
Hope for a "old" member to be your trader... they all need space

So sign up.. I want to at least read bout the fun :D

Pia good tips, I can always use the room, somehow that so called medium hosta became very large so they make great trades. And it's the fun of opening the box that's the best part regardless of what inside. I lable every trade I've received from that member just to remember who it came from.

I leave the shipping to Chris @ Hallsons. My hosta collection is young and all of my mature hostas that could be split are filled with some oldies (but goodies). Its great way to participate for the new hosta geeks like me.

Just a reminder there are 2 days left. If you are interested, sign up by Sunday night. I'll be sending a PM's on Monday with all the information you need to send your package. Let's have a good, clean fun trade.

As Ginger said, make sure your list is up to date.

I have to sit this one out. There's just too much going on here right now.
This will be the first one I've missed since we started them!

I have a sizable list so usually get paired with someone else who has alot of hostas. I can always find some hosta to send the person that they don't have. Love the trades. Thanks for doing it for us.
Gotta go find my list and update by Mon.

Only a couple hours left.....I'll start pulling names in the morning. Look for a PM sometime tomorrow.

(FYI - I'll be at a parade in the morning so don't expect anything too early)
