Went into my garden to get some shots of rectifolia flowers that are opening this afternoon. (edit: it was late afternoon) I was hit with the fragrance of hyacinths before I got to that garden. The last time that aroma hit me was last season when my plantaginea flowered for the first time. I was standing next to Crystal Moon and it had a set of large white flowers on it. That was the source of the smell.
Heavenly. Our 'Fragrant Bouquet' is just starting, but 'Flower Power' and 'Nightlife' have been going for a week. The rest of the 'Fragrant Bouquet' group is right behind. Only a few weeks more until plantaginea is in full swing.
For better or worse, our clethra hedge is too close to our 'FB', so I have to work to get pure hosta fragrance out of it.
I have a huge Stain Glass full of flowers and no smell. I don't think I have ever gotten that fragrance from my Fragant Bouquet group. I was stunned last season when plantagenia hit me and I was 10 feet away.

Sometimes it just has to do with the time of day. The fragrance usually gets more pronounced later in the day but other factors can change that too. Or maybe your Stained Glass is something else?
I'm still convinced that Crystal Moon is really just Fragrant Bouquet that got mixed up when it was discovered and then registered. There is just no chance, no way, that this is an August Moon sport. Plants don't sport fragrance, change bloom time, or change flower shape, while at the same time changing leaf shape, vein count, corrugation, size... and it's a shame that so many places are still selling it as an August Moon sport. We can add this to the list of registration blunders out there.
My 'Fragrant Bouquet' is just budding. won't be long. 'Stained Glass', for me, has never had a strong scent, just a light one and does 'Diana Remembered'. But my 'Venus', when it blooms, is strongly scented.

We have looked at this before - CM can't come from AM. But is it Fragrant Bouquet mislabeled or a really nice, similar looking sport of Fragrant Bouquet? I don't have them growing next to each other so I can't see obvious differences. CM seems a little streakier and a little rounder in the leaves but that could just be random differences in the plants.

I got my copy of the latest Hosta Journal the other day. Looked at the cover and thought "what a plain picture of Fragrant Bouquet". Then I looked at the inside cover where it said the plant was Crystal Moon and gave a description as being a sport of August Moon and fragrant. I know very well that it is fragrant from first-hand experience - but the idea that it's out of August Moon is wrong as has been discussed here. Even the Hosta Library has a note about there being a problem - "Crystal Moon is a mistakenly renamed Fragrant Bouquet". It just seemed weird to me to have that photo on the cover. Crystal Moon is a beautiful plant but with a "confused" registration - why would you pick that one? And the photo doesn't do the plant justice - mine always has some streaking on it. In fact, I don't think it is a "mistakenly renamed Fragrant Bouquet" - I think it's a slightly streaked sport. This season I took a piece off mine and moved it to my Fragrant Bouquet area to see if I could pick up differences growing in the same conditions.

I have to think that editor Bob Olson’s illness and treatment resulted in an issue that wasn’t up to usual standards. Hence the slightly bizarre choice to run pictures of this year’s convention gardens (taken in 2006 and 2016-17j for an issue that many folks received the week of the convention. I hope they (Bob and THJ) both recover.
