Hosta of the day -'Surprised By Joy' - post your pics

New in 2005, this mini took awhile to get established. The last two years it has been decimated by slug/earwigs, but it's lovely early in the season. This is what it looked like mid-July. I'll see if I can find a picture from earlier in the season.

Here's one from late June. Most of the damage seems to have occurred the first week of July.

Name: H. 'Surprised by Joy'

Description: Delightful mini with cream to white leaf centres framed with crisp green borders... leaves are narrow and held upright.

Size: Mini (8"w x 4"h)
Origin: H. 'Flamboyant' X H. venusta
Flowers: Tubular, pale lavender in June

Added to garden: Spring 2005
Notes: Prone to slug damage. The copper mesh collar seems to help.

2014 - decimated by slugs again. it was looking good early in the season until I divided a section from it for a friend who had been trying to find it. This picture early before I divided it - June 3.

2015 - July 03. It fared better in 2015. I had it surrounded by a copper mesh collar which may have helped. And the divisions from last year filled out nicely.
