A big yellow alongside my garden path is budding up for the first time. I'm guessing this is a weedling from a Frances Williams that's not too far.

This one is getting big. It's some type of fortunei weedling. That's Minuteman on the left getting dwarfed.

Noticed this one yesterday. The color looked odd - kind of hazy - might be it's getting bleached by the sun. The seems to have color on the front and back of the petioles. The back of the leaf looks frosted. Some things in that area, in a raised bed, that could drop seeds - Blue Angel, Babbling Brook, Aventurine plus a bunch of troughs nearby with plants with red petioles.
It's growing right next to a swamp maple root.

This little yellow one has been growing for a couple of years. I just noticed the color on the petiole. The only thing around it with petiole color is a Mr Blue. Everything else is Gold Standard family or Whirlwind family. There are June, Halcyon and Seducer further away.

I started removing weedlings from my rectifolia area. Some are getting into my "Mouse" space. I believe they are all seedlings from the rectifolia group - seeds from Violetta, Aomori Setting Sun, Aomori Gold Star, SILVER STAR, rectifolia 'Nishiki' and a bunch of similars.

There are two yellow, a couple with a "Lizard Skin" look, many with thin rippled leaves. I decided to pot them and let them do their thing - I expect many large late flowers that are dark purple with white strips. Of course I'll get something else. Here is one that I found interesting - shiny lizard skin leaves and some color in the petiole. I would not expect color from this group. There is nothing near them with color except maybe Violetta may have some petiole color. The other types in the area are "Mouse" types and Gold Standard family - and they have different flower times.

I've seen more weedlings under my hostas this year then ever before. They are still tiny, at 2 leaves, so I'm going to let them have some more time before I weed them out. A lot of them are under my Sea Gulf Stream seedlings.

Big Yellow - the flower scape got knocked off I was assuming the flowers would white - I'll have to wait 'til next season.

This one has been growing for a few years and finally flowered. I think it's in the Fortunei family - there is a Fortunei Hyacinthina nearby.

I am thinking this is a seedling from Friends which is two plants over. The big ripple is similar to Friends as is the color. I have posted this one on this topic before on May 25 this year when I first spotted it - it wasn't showing ripples then.

Along the edge of my front lawn garden I'm finding a bunch of weedlings. I think they are coming from Kinbuchi Tachi. Kinbuchi Tachi is growing on the far side of the garden away from this one but the upright nature of this plant leads my to believe it's a rectifolia type and the flower opened today with similarities to Kinbuchi Tachi's flower except for the timing of the flower - but similar weedlings in my backyard that are downhill from my rectifolia group are in flower now.

This photo show the size of the scape. It's difficult to see with the large Fujibotan in the background. The little plant to the bottom/left is probably a "sibling" of this weedling even though it's showing some rippling in the leaf and some color on the outside edge of the leaf.

The flower has an interesting quirk. Even though it has dark colored stripes that descend into the throat of the flower, some of the center stripes are faded. I noticed this "trait" a few years ago in Kinbuchi Tachi flowers. I always thought the center stripe was the dominant stripe for color and length. I now find that's not true in a bunch of plants where the two adjacent stripes can be darker and longer. In this flower the center stripe is "weak" on some petals. I need to see the next few flowers for confirmation.

After posting the previous weedling I went in my backyard to see flowers from other weedlings that I think are from my rectifolia group. This flower looked the prettiest. The others I was thinking about are just white or off-white - there is a white flowered rectifolia in the area. This plant got stepped on and looks ugly but the scapes were missed. I showed this one last season as "dark weedling".
This flower demonstrates the "faded" center stripe.

The plants are nothing to look at but the bumble bees and hummingbirds appreciate the flowers. And I started putting hosta in this space many years ago to attract the hummingbirds.

I potted a bunch from rectifolia area. This one survived and flowered.
With this leaf shape and flower color I'm guessing it's from rectifolia 'Chionea' or maybe one of the similar ones near it - Ginbuchi Tachi or rectifolia Nakai or Rohdeifolia - they are similar.

And this is my favorite weedling. I think it came in 2011. The leaves have really developed their shape this year. It came from a bed with Journey's End and Queen of the Seas, so it's likely related to one or the other.
